Publisher's Summary

Wall Street Journal best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you look beyond labels and take a chance on love.

Badass Athlete: I dare you to...

Delaney Shaw: Who is this?

The late-night text is random, but "Badass Athlete" sure seems to know who she is...Delaney Shaw. Good girl. Lover of fluffy kitties and Star Wars. Curious.

His dare? Spend one night in his bed - a night he promises will be unforgettable - and she can solve the mystery of who he is.

She knows she shouldn't, but what else is she going to do with her boring Valentine's Day? One sexy hookup later, her mind is blown, and the secret's out.

Maverick Monroe. Bad boy. The most talented football player in the country. Just ask him. Too bad for him that Delaney's sworn off dating athletes forever after her last heartbreak.

But Maverick wants more than one night and refuses to give up on winning Delaney’s heart. She isn’t one to be fazed by a set of broad shoulders.

Will the bad boy land the nerd girl, or will the secrets they keep from each other separate them forever?

Disappointed 😞

I really loved the cover of this book so, I decided to listen to the audio. The narration did a good job. The story was predictable. I was waiting for something to happen for this story to become more but, it never did. IIsa wrote characters that I liked but, just didn’t really get to show some sort of depth in this story. This is a sports romance.

Good Read

This story reads good, narrators are good. The main characters have great chemistry. Nice way to pass a couple of hours of good listening.

Well that went nowhere fast..

Decent plot. Started out well with potential but then it just didn't deliver at all. It went nowhere at all and ended up being a pretty annoying story I really only finished because I had spent the money on it. There was a lot of chemistry between the two main characters but the actual "scenes" were seriously lacking the chemistry. Disappointing.

Cliche but enjoyable.

Maverick and Delaney are total opposite...or well, so it seems from the outside. Deep down they had a little emotionally connected by texting one another. Maverick did anything he can to pursue her. Overall, it’s very cliche once again but still enjoyable. I give it a 3 stars out of 5.

Good but lacking something.

This book was good, but I felt like there was something missing.
I listened to this in audio and it seems like Maverick’s chapters were way too brief and didn’t have any depth.
I did enjoy the banter and chemistry between Mav and Delaney, though.

Nerdy + Cocky = Entertaining

This book has humor, angst, and lots of heart-tugging moments. Add in an awkward, nerdy girl and a hot cocky guy and the lines are just smart enough to keep you smiling or chuckling the whole way. At times, however, it is either a bit too cheesy, or a bit unrealistic, but otherwise, it was a great story.

Just shy of a first down for me.

Excellent Narration!
I wanted to love this book, but it was more miss than hit. Not horrible, but nothing that really wowed me. Based on the cover, I was expecting WOW! The story started strong, and I enjoyed the texts and dares, but then a few things pulled me out of the story. I felt let down that the "big secret" wound up not being a very big deal at all. As a sports fan, I'd have appreciated seeing how this couple coped if more realistic consequences had played out. It just felt as though everything wrapped up too neatly. Delaney and Maverick had great chemistry and seemed to have a fairly good emotional relationship, but I wasn't invested in them as a couple.

So Good

Great performances from both narrators. The story was sweet with great heat. I would recommend this to my friends.
