Eine schlaflose Nacht führt die Zwillinge Tim und Bo tief in den herbstlichen Wald, nachdem sie aus ihrem Kinderzimmer ein mysteriöses hellgrünes Leuchten beobachtet haben. Auf ihrer Suche stoßen sie auf ein einsames, dreistöckiges Gebäude, in dessen oberstem Fenster eine Laterne fahl durch die Dunkelheit scheint. Doch kaum haben sie das unheimliche Haus betreten, schnappt die Falle zu: Die schwere Holztür fällt ins Schloss und die Taschenlampen versagen ihren Dienst. Umgeben von ausgestopften Tieren und einem seltsamen Flattern in der Finsternis, müssen die Brüder einen kühlen Kopf bewahren.
