About this listen

The story is set in an unnamed penal colony. In the Penal Colony describes the last use of an elaborate torture and execution device that carves the sentence of the condemned prisoner on his skin in a script before letting him die, all in the course of 12 hours. As the plot unfolds, the listener learns more and more about the machine, including its origin, and original justification.

The great German author, Franz Kafka takes you to a penal colony, where a condemned man is sent and he waits for his execution, never wants to come out, even when he is set free and you realise that we are all condemned to live in the penal colony, called the world!
Terrific short story, but the soft background music is rather disturbing, that shouldn't be there.

You're condemned to live in the penal colony.
