It was the children who saw - and felt - what made Derry so horribly different. In the storm drains, in the sewers, IT lurked, taking on the shape of every nightmare, each one's deepest dread. Sometimes IT reached up, seizing, tearing, killing . . .
The adults, knowing better, knew nothing.
Time passed and the children grew up, moved away. The horror of IT was deep-buried, wrapped in forgetfulness. Until they were called back, once more to confront IT as IT stirred and coiled in the sullen depths of their memories, reaching up again to make their past nightmares a terrible present reality.

An im-Perfect Coming of Age story

As for the story itself, i think it is usual ‘Stephen King’ stuff. King blabbers a lot but keeps it engaging & thrilling.
The audiobook format makes it feel like you’re back to your childhood days and some adult is telling you a ghost story.
Edit: What the heck was ‘that scene’ in the ending? Totally unnecessary and off-putting. King was clearly high on cocaine when he wrote that chapter. PLUS - King always struggles in concluding his stories. For all the hype and world-building he does in initial two-thirds of his booms, he always lack ideas in last third. Downgraded my rating from 4 to 3 star after completing the book.
