Una Richardson is devastated after the death of her mother. Hoping for a fresh start, she responds to an advertisement and steps into the rich, comforting world of elderly Mrs Elspeth McKenzie.

But Elspeth's home is not as safe as it seems.

Kathryn, her cold and bitter daughter, resents Una's presence. More disturbing is the evidence suggesting two girls lived here before.

What happened to them?

Why will the McKenzies not talk about them?

As the walls close in around her, Una fears she'll end up just like the other girls.

Fantastic! IF you suspend belief for 11 hours!

Three woman go missing/murdered from the same employer.. and the police are clueless! Please!! The amount of times I rolled my eyes through this. It went from bad to worse and the audio kept changing all the way through! NOT great! Don't waste your credit!!

A bit ridiculous

The story was ok but a little far fetched. There are a few glitches on the audio which spoilt it a bit.

Meh..

I kind of struggled with this towards the end. I thought it had potential in the beginning and I enjoyed the story and setting but around the middle it went downhill and I struggled to keep focused on it. The ending was a good twist but I felt like the whole story dragged on a bit.

Another Claire Douglas cracker

Excellent book from the reliable Claire Douglas. The story makes you keep asking “what’s going on?” Intruiging throughout, with realistic characters the reader invests in. Well read story too, the right balance between‘performing’ and reading a book. Loved it.

Best of her books so far

Love how this author draws you into the story, all bits tie up and once again didn’t see the twist.
First one by this author that I’ve done as a audio. Narrator I felt was the perfect fit and added to the story , not always the case. Would be tempted to try her next book as an audio, I tend to rush through a book where as this time I enjoyed every bit; advantage to COVID crisis has been the enjoyment of audio books .
Would recommend , not a “chick rom on” kind of book but a intriguing book about people , keeping your attention throughout .
