बीते कुछ समय से शेष भारत के लोगों के लिए कश्मीर राष्ट्रवाद के ‘उत्प्रेरक’ के तौर पर काम आने लगा है। ‘दूध माँगोगे तो खीर देंगे, कश्मीर माँगोगे तो चीर देंगे’ जैसे फ़िल्मी डायलॉग के ज़रिए जम्मू-कश्मीर को भारत और पाकिस्तान के भूगोल, इतिहास और संस्कृति-सभ्यता की बाइनरी में रखते हुए ‘पाने-खोने’ के विमर्शों में उलझाकर रख दिया गया है। इन सबके बीच कश्मीरियत भी है, जिस पर बात कम होती है। जम्मू-कश्मीर के लोग हैं, उनके मानवाधिकार, उनके नागरिक अधिकार हैं, तमाम गंभीर, मौखिक और कथित क़ानूनी आरोप झेलते घाटी के युवा हैं, जो अपना भविष्य अंधकार में पाते हैं। एक बड़ी आबादी है जिसके दिमाग़ पर एक युद्धरत कश्मीर की छाप जमती चली जा रही है। कश्मीर में सेना है, आफ़्स्पा है, निगरानी और तलाशी के अंतहीन सिलसिले हैं। भय है, दमन है, साहस भी है, प्रतिरोध भी है। ये चीज़ें आम जनमानस की ‘प्रमाणपत्रीय’ निर्णय लेने वाली चेतना में विचार या फ़ैसले के लिए जगह नहीं पातीं। ‘लाल चौक’ उन्हीं अनकहे और ‘साज़िशन’ अंधकार में धकेले जा रहे तथ्यों पर रोशनी डालती है, जो सिर्फ़ तथ्य भर नहीं हैं, कथ्य भर नहीं हैं, बल्कि एक बड़ी आबादी का जीवन हैं और जिन्हें दशकों से जिया जा रहा है।

मैं यहाँ कोई निष्कर्ष नहीं लिख रहा, मानता हूँ जम्मू और कश्मीर के लोगों ने बहुत सहा है, पर सिर्फ़ एक पक्ष पर ही इतना ज़ोर डालना ठीक बात नहीं, अभी बहुत सी कहानियाँ है बताने को, मैंने जितना इस विषय के बारे में पढ़ा है, मैं यही कहूँगा अभी बहुत कुछ लिखना बाक़ी है।

A poor attempt at distorting facts and truth. The entire narration is based on some unnamed sources, without giving any credible reasoning or logic. Midway through the first chapter, you realise it's a propaganda piece when the author blatantly lies and misrepresents facts available in the public domain. Waste of time for anyone trying to understand and read more about J&K
