Story
For 12-year-old Emily, the best thing about moving to San Francisco is that it's the home city of her literary idol: Garrison Griswold, book publisher and creator of the online sensation Book Scavenger (a game where books are hidden in cities all over the country and clues to find them are revealed through puzzles). Upon her arrival, however, Emily learns that Griswold has been attacked and is now in a coma, and no one knows anything about the epic new game he had been poised to launch.

Story
When seventh grader Georges (the S is silent) moves into a Brooklyn apartment building, he meets Safer, a 12-year-old coffee-drinking loner and self-appointed spy. Georges becomes Safer's first spy recruit. His assignment? Tracking the mysterious Mr. X, who lives in the apartment upstairs. But as Safer becomes more demanding, Georges starts to wonder: how far is too far to go for your only friend? Liar & Spy is an inspired, often-funny story about destiny, goofy brilliance, and courage.

Publisher's Summary
Debut novelist Lisa Lewis Tyre vibrantly brings a small town and its outspoken characters to life as she explores race and other community issues from both the Civil War and the present day.
Lou might be only 12, but she's never been one to take things sitting down. So when her Civil War-era house is about to be condemned, she's determined to save it - either by getting it deemed a historic landmark or by finding the stash of gold rumored to be hidden nearby during the war. As Lou digs into the past, her eyes are opened when she finds that her ancestors ran the gamut of slave owners, renegades, thieves, and abolitionists. Meanwhile, some incidents in her town show her that many Civil War-era prejudices still survive and that the past can keep repeating itself if we let it. Digging into her past shows Lou that it's never too late to fight injustice, and she starts to see the real value of understanding and exploring her roots.

Should be made into a movie!
Loved the story.! We listened to it on a road trip with our daughter. My husband couldn’t resist the gold story and continued to listen long after she and I fell asleep.
Someone should tell Oprah and Reese Witherspoon to make this into a movie!

What can I say about Last in a Long Line of Rebels!👍
This book is phenomenal. I love how the mystery within the book is based on a time period long ago and how you get to experience some suspense at certain points. If you love a book with a mystery, this one is just for you!😀
