En 1922, Marina Tsvétaïeva écrit en russe un poème qui s'inspire du célèbre conte d'Afanassiev, Le Vampire, l'histoire de la belle Maroussia qui tombe amoureuse de celui avec lequel elle a dansé toute la nuit, et qu'elle surprend le lendemain en train de dévorer un cadavre. En 1929, à Paris, Tsvétaïeva entreprend de traduire ce poème en français. Elle l'intitule Le Gars. Plus tard, elle le réécrit sous forme de conte qu'elle accompagne d'un avant-propos pour l'édition française. C'est cet ensemble qui est ici lu par Anna Mouglalis. Variations sur un même thème, où vie et mort se mêlent, se trahissent, se traduisent, ces trois textes jouent brillamment avec une langue teintée d'une inquiétante étrangeté.
