The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar. Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born. Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day - when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother. And that his best friend has a crush on me. And that I just moved in with them. Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

Story
You're not supposed to want the one who torments you. When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn't prepared for how much of a jerk he'd be. I hated that he took it out on me because he didn't want to be here. I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room. But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn't exactly make a good impression. I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date. He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice. So I told him to mind his own damn business and went back to my miserable date. I couldn't help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn't have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she's nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Publisher's Summary
Summer nights and star-crossed lovers! From USA Today best-selling author Sarina Bowen.
Once upon a time, he gave me a summer of friendship, followed by one perfect night. We shared a lot during our short time together. But he skipped a few crucial details.
I didn’t know he was a rock star.
I didn’t know his real name.
Neither of us knew I’d get pregnant.
And I sure never expected to see him again.
Five years later, his tour bus pulls up in Nest Lake, Maine. My little world is about to be shattered by loud music and the pounding of my own foolish heart.

Sweetness, I’m in love!
Lies & Lullabies by Sarina Bowen is the first book in the Hush Note series. One Band. Three love stories. Three authors. Rifts & Refrains and Muses & Melodies, by Devney Perry and Rebecca Yarros, are the second and third books in the series.
I loved this audiobook. It’s something else. Tim Paige and Erin Mallon rocked it from the first minute. The story is amazing, and they took it to another level of awesomeness. And the song! Dear lord, the song! Tim Paige sings! And it’s so good! The truth is that Tim And Erin delivered outstanding performances to bring Jonas and Kira to life. This is one of those stories that you could listen on a loop. It is perfection.
Lies & Lullabies is everything you’d expect from Sarina Bowen. A colorful small town in New England, a wonderful storyline, and an amazing cast of characters that will make you swoon, laugh and curse (at least a bit).
Lies & Lullabies is a second chance romance about a small-town-girl and an undercover rock star that spent a special summer together and then went their separate ways. He was left with the sweetest memories, while she was left with their child. Five years later, a fluke encounter brings them together again, but things are way more complicated than either of them ever realized.
I loved Lies & Lullabies. I loved everything about it. Sarina Bowen is a skilled storyteller, there’s no doubt about that. She has a way with words that leaves you in awe of her talent every single time. The story flows, the characters are well-rounded and lovable, and the settings come alive to give this book her magic touch. It’s a delightful story about regrets and second chances, true love, the importance of family, and forgiveness.
Jonas and Kira both have regrets. When they first met five years ago, they were going through a hard time in their lives, and the connection they found in each other helped them heal. But sometimes feelings can get scary and overwhelming, and people don’t necessarily make the right choices. Right and wrong are never black and white, and the beauty of this story, if you take the time to understand where both Jonas and Kira were coming from, is that it’s never too late to be brave enough to put the past behind you and look forward to what the future might hold.
I loved Jonas and Kira together. Their chemistry is off the charts. You can feel the intensity between them, the emotional energy that goes beyond attraction and lust they forged five years ago, when they first became friends and then more. I really loved the slow burn of their reunion, how they dealt with the secrets and lies and old wounds, in order to move forward and forgive themselves and each other. Lies & Lullabies is definitely an emotional roller coaster. And definitely the best kind.
Vivi, Jonas and Kira’s four-year-old, is a delight. You can’t help but fall in love with her, just as Jonas did. It will take less than five minutes. She’s such a fun kid! So smart and witty. I also loved her relationship with her uncle Adam, and whenever she and Jonas were together. And Adam simply steals the show. He’s such a great guy. He’s the best brother ever, and he even got some action with Ethan, Jonas’s friend and tour manager. Let’s just say that everyone will end up begging for these two to get their own story. I can guarantee it. We also get glimpses of Quinn and Nixon that will make everyone yearn for the next books in the series.
I would give Lies & Lullabies enough stars to fill up the sky, but I guess Five will have to do. I can’t recommend it enough, it’s truly a wonderful story that will make your heart smile and fill you with joy.

WORST LISTEN, READ OF 2020
I was so disappointed in this book on so many levels. Poor writing for a rape victim having sex for the first time after the rape. And on top of the rape, the language used for body parts was not indicative of nurturing or creating a safe environment. This book was either written over a weekend or poorly thought out. Flat characters, poor choice of terms for body parts, lots of objectification...How did this get stars???

A great second chance romance, with talented narration and that rockstar grit.
“Real love wasn’t set to a four-four drum beat in a recording studio. Real love was accomplished this way—by caring for the people who needed you.”
A small town summer love story with a rockstar twist, this audiobook was a such a fun listen. It had the perfect amount of angst, along with a whole lot of sweetness with the beautiful songs and added laughter from their daughter Vivi. I loved the whole cast of characters especially Kira’s brother Adam, he sacrificed so much to make sure everyone around him was taken care of. The way Sarina transports me to a location while listening is always magical, I felt like I was on the front porch of the general store in Maine, soaking up the last of the summer with Kira and Jonas. I rooted for their love and hoped that they could come to terms with the secrets they kept from each other and the beautiful daughter they created. Overall this was a great second chance romance, with talented narration and that rockstar grit.
“This is a song about meeting the right person at the wrong time. It’s a song about regrets. And I hope the girl in the song knows that I mean every word. Because I’m really hoping the story isn’t over yet.”
I am reading these books out of order, I started with Quinn and then Jonas and can’t wait to read Nixon next! Such a fun rockstar series, I am addicted to Hush Note!

Second Chance Romance and Utter Sweetness
I had the absolute pleasure of listening to the audiobook of Lies & Lullabies by Sarina Bowen narrated by Erin Mallon and Tim Paige with a special appearance by Jeffrey Kafer.
This story starts in present day, but then you get to see 5 years prior when Kira and Jonas first meet and the development, progression and eventual end of their summer in Maine. When they reconnect they both have secrets they must reveal, but the one thing that never changed was how they feel for each other.
I feel a little like I only got a taste of these two and I want more of their story, more of how they work on their long distance relationship, and more of their interaction with Vivi. Adam, Kira's brother was also a favorite of mine in this story and I really hope to get more of his story the future books by Denvey Perry and Rebecca Yarros.
Erin Mallon is a queen, let's be honest, her narration is always spot on and this is no different. I am not as familiar with Tim Paige, but this character was perfect for him and his voice really lended itself to a 20 something rock star who was vulnerable and affectionate. What really impressed me was Tim going above and beyond to write a melody and perform "Sweetness", the song written by Sarina Bowen. I am still humming this song in my head, it was an incredible addition to the book.
Overall I highly recommend this book, another Sarina Bowen story that I will love forever.
I received an ALC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

Beautiful romance
I LOVE this audio book so much and it's definitely in my top 5 of this year. Tim is amazing as Jonas, a rock star who comes to realise he's been in love with the one who got away. Erin is exactly how I imagine imagined Kira, who has a secret daughter to Jonas. They meet again nearly 5years later and Jonas is shocked but wants to be together with his girls. Such a beautiful story that was amazingly narrated and omg Tim has an amazing singing voice. Absolutely perfect listening

Love this rock star romance
I really enjoyed this sweet and emotional second chance romance. It is a mix of the best romance tropes with a rock star hero, a pregnancy that he never knew about, and a single mom who is struggling but doing the best for her little girl.
Jonas Smith returns to Nest Lake, Maine where he had spent a most memorable time. He regrets not keeping in contact with the girl he left behind there.
Kira has a secret that she has kept from John/Jonas but when he suddenly arrives in Maine she’s is forced to contain the issue.
I listened to this story on audiobook and I loved the narration by Erin Mallon and Tim Paige. They really brought the story to life.

All the feels in this second chance romance
What a fab start to this Hush Note series. FYI, Hush Note is the name of a band, and book 1 follows songwriter, guitarist and singer Jonas Smith who at the age of 25 goes to Nest Lake, Maine for the summer, he needs a bit of a reprieve from his rockstar life. He then unexpectedly falls in love with 20 year old Kira Cassidy, sadly after their one and only night of passion he leaves Maine without, it seems, a backward glance. One important detail, he didn’t give Kira his real name. Although, when you’re front and centre in a famous rock band, your identity can’t be hidden forever. When he comes back with his band 5 years later he doesn’t expect to see Kira again, but he gets a lot more than he bargained for when he bumps into her outside her father’s shop. I adored the story, second chance, baby daddy, rockstar romance. I received an advanced listener copy of this audio, and I’ve got to say it blew me away. Erin Mallon (who I love), narrates with all the emotion and detail needed for both Kira and her 4 year old daughter Vivi). Then there’s Tim Paige (completely new to me), who narrates Jonas to perfection, even going so far as singing - his voice as both singer and narrator is sexy and raspy, and together as a team, they were perfect. All the feels in this sweet, romantic, second chance romance.

Ms Bowen, you had me at rock star. Throw in a surprise (to him) bubber and the small town vibe and I am all in, baby!
I loved that Jonas wasn't coming off being a manwhore and all of a sudden stopping that for one woman. Was he in the past? Yeah, sure.
And Kira and Vivi.. oh my heart 💕
And diving into the book as an audio gave it that something more for me. Could it be Jonas actually singing to me? Yeah, that could be it. Tim Paige and Erin Mallon (my favourite female narrator for years now) bring Jonas and Kira to life. Sometimes with the written word, subtleties of conversations can be missed, but with it speaking to me I felt all those nuances.
Kira's brother is the kind of family we all need. Loving and protective, he is the perfect man for.... well you need to read to find out. But I can't wait to get his story.
It did take a little while for me to get started with this one, but once I got past a couple of things at the beginning, I was hooked Hooked, I tell you!
I am looking forward to the other books in the Hush Notes series.

Heart-warming, swoony love story: JONAS! JONAS!
My thanks to the author and her publisher for providing me with a copy of the ebook as well as the Audible version of Lies and Lullabies (Hush Note #1) in exchange for an honest review.
Jonas and Kira had a beautiful, uncomplicated "one summer stand" but the consequences from their no strings-attached tryst would cause a few ripples in their lives when Jonas seeks Kira out after several years on the road with his band, Hush Note.
Jonas realized too late that he should have responded to Kira's note, telling him that she had fallen in love with him that summer. His song Sweetness is on its way to the top of the charts, baring his soul for all the world to see: he let the right one get away.
Jonas chose his career over love. He acknowledges time and again that he was a messed up, selfish young idiot who had no idea what he was giving up in exchange for fame and fortune.
Well, Kira has a major surprise for him - one that is sure to fill that empty space in his heart that he now knows only Kira and Vivi can fill.
On the Audio version of this book, Tim Paige did an amazing job as Jonas and Erin Mallon gave life to Kira. I would have preferred that Tim Paige had read all the male parts, and that Erin Mallon had stuck solely to all the female voices. However, this did not get in the way of my overall enjoyment of this sweet story about two people who fight to make time for each other over the demands of their careers, studies and child-rearing responsibilities. I totally enjoyed this audio book: what a heartwarming story, and the bedroom (and bathroom!) scenes added some welcome sizzle to this second chance romance. Highly, highly recommended!

ok
if you like tame rock star stories then this is for you. not much rock but a good 2nd chance romance. I've read Ms Bowen before but this isn't one of her better ones. just a pleasant listen for me.
although I did like the way the sweetness was introduced...it was different
