Publisher's Summary

A brilliant and touching romantic comedy from the USA Today best-selling author of The Friend Zone and The Happy Ever After Playlist.

When Vanessa Price quit her job to pursue her dream of traveling the globe, she wasn't expecting to gain millions of YouTube followers who shared her joy of seizing every moment. For her, living each day to its fullest isn't just a motto. Her mother and sister never saw the age of 30, and Vanessa doesn't want to take anything for granted.

But after her half sister suddenly leaves Vanessa in custody of her baby daughter, life goes from "daily adventure" to "next-level bad" (now with bonus baby vomit in hair). The last person Vanessa expects to show up offering help is the hot lawyer next door, Adrian Copeland. After all, she barely knows him. No one warned her that he was the Secret Baby Tamer or that she'd be spending a whole lot of time with him and his geriatric Chihuahua.

Now she's feeling things she's vowed not to feel. Because the only thing worse than falling for Adrian is finding a little hope for a future she may never see.

“Abby Jimenez’s knack for tackling heavy subjects with humor and care shines through in this exquisitely written story about love, difficult family relationships, and living life to its fullest.” (Farrah Rochon, USA Today best-selling author of The Boyfriend Project)

“Heartfelt and swoony...Jimenez masterfully blends heavy issues and humor, lacing the tear-jerking heartache with sass and sarcasm. Series fans and newcomers alike will be moved by this emotional rom-com.” (Publishers Weekly)

More entertaining and more seasoned

Having read the other two books by Abby, I think this one turned out as per my expectations. A video blogger is thrust into pseudo motherhood, and her next door lawyer neighbour into pseudo fatherhood. seems twisted, but the overall plot was made plausible and the story developed well. the chemistry between the two protagonist was given its due time and that kept the engagement going. The ending was actually better than I expected. overall entertaining and fun read, with fine balance of drama and heart aches.

Live for Today

Live for today - that's the ongoing theme that comes across in this story. I went into this book with the understanding that I would probably laugh a bit and cry a lot. It didn't disappoint. Vanessa and Adrian compliment each other perfectly from them moment they meet.

I loved the themes in this story and found it surprisingly uplifting. The dark periods and heavy content was much lighter than I had expected based on the previous two novels, especially TFZ (though to be honest that could be due to the personal connection I felt with the characters and storyline of that book). I also expected more heat than we got in this one. It was still a sweet romance with a nice wrap up, however I would have liked to see a little more sexy time details and a little less of the curtain closed post coital wrap up 😘 I really appreciated the cameos from some well loved characters!

I truly enjoyed the narration in this. Christine Lakin is a new narrator to me but I'm familiar with her acting work/voice. She has a pleasing pace and a good register for both her female and male characters. Zachary Webber also did a great job as usual (but as a 1 click narrator for me that's to be expected). I particularly liked how he delivered the BuzzFeed-esk chapter titles! Also, as expected, he was the one who made me ugly cry 😭 He's so good at bringing on ALL the feels, but especially pain and despair!

Overall I was happy I picked this up. Between the story and the audio performances it's worth the credit. Definitely could be a standalone but I highly recommend reading the first 2 because they are so worth it!

This book was very sad!

I wish this came with a warning, but my preference is to listen to romance books that take me away from life's heartaches. I don't want to read romance about terminal illness, death, addiction, etc. I really liked Abby's other books, but this one was a bit too heavy for me. I will be returning. :(

So good!

I rarely give 5 stars but I would give it 6 or 7 if I could. I loved how you can feel for both characters and the storyline flowed really well. After listening to two sub par books (one I didn’t finish) this was a breath of fresh air and something I really needed. Christine is new to me as a narrator but I really like her! Zachary can do now wrong.

⭐️ Another winner ⭐️

I’ve become a big fan of this author, this is the third book I’ve listened to and really enjoyed. She’s not scared to tackle difficult subjects that will affect long term partners. I’ll await the next book eagerly.

Delightful

Really enjoyed this, wonderful narration (although questionable Australian accent on occasion), timelines were a little all over the place, but a heartwarming story nonetheless.

loved it

Good storyline however, I still love her other two books more as they less predictable. The downside was how bad the Aussie sounded but it didn't happen much.

Cute story

Cute story. I enjoy Abbey Jiminez's characters. Zachary Webber and Christine Lakin deliver a pretty sharp performance, but the attempt at an Australian accent by Ms Lakin is woeful and painful to the Australian ear 😏
