A best selling author E V Renge, has just passed away. Her daughter, Mackenzie starts to receive anonymous letters. These letters were supposedly from her mother. But, something is not quite right. Pieces of the puzzle are missing. These letters pique Mackenzie's interest and curiousity about her mother and she starts to dig. These letters are giving out some clues which invariably are connected to the titles or plot lines of those best selling books. Mackenzie ropes in her best friend, EJ and they both, try to get to the bottom of the story. But, getting to the bottom of the story means, getting dirty and coming to terms with truth that was devastating.
Soon Mackenize realizes her mother's name, fame and moolah were someone else's hard work. Did Mackenzie's mother rob someone else's work and called it her own? Was this a case of identity theft? Did she snatch away someone else's passion, career, dream and life out of jealousy or just plain selfishness and greed? If she has taken away someone else's work, who is the original writer of all those best selling books? And where is she? And what is the connection to Mackenzie?
Twists, turns and thrilling moments, this book is a winner. Narrated by a host of great sounding story tellers, this book kept me hooked. I listened to it between meals and piles of paper correction. The cliche of one more chapter didn't sit well with this book...I needed more than one chapter to satiate my listening goals.
If you are looking for a great thriller, with a super finishing, you can pick this one up for sure.
