Brought to you by Penguin.

The irresistible new stand-alone novel from number one best-selling author Sophie Kinsella.

I love you...but what if I can't love your life?

Ava is sick of online dating. She’s always trusted her own instincts over an algorithm, anyway, and she wants a break from it all. So when she signs up to a semi-silent, anonymous writing retreat in glorious Italy, love is the last thing on her mind.

Until she meets a handsome stranger. All she knows is that he’s funny, he’s kind and - she soon learns - he’s great in bed. He’s equally smitten, and after a whirlwind, intoxicating affair, they pledge their love without even knowing each other’s real names.

But when they return home, reality hits. They’re both driven mad by each other’s weird quirks and annoying habits, from his eccentric, naked-sauna-loving family to her terribly behaved, shirt-shredding dog. As disaster follows disaster, it seems that while they love each other, they just can’t love each other’s lives. Can they overcome their differences to find one life, together?

loved it soooo much

sophie is my absolute favorite author but her last novels (namely my not so perfect life and i owe you one, but Especially surprise me) had been really letting me down. even more so when i compared it to the shopaholic series and other classics from sophie such as youve got my number and can you keep a secret. BUT this one is absolutely back on track!!! it has everything i love abt sophie's stories - fun, romance, humor, drama, happy endings. its so well written and ALL the characters are so amazing and the issues faced by them all are completely relatable. i cant stress this enough, its a classic sophie kinsella novel and i love it

Really not worth the time

The story was slow, not interesting and predicted.
I gave up at about half way.

Disappointed

I just cannot believe Sophie Kinsella wrote this drivel. I never thought I would return one of her books. I really hope this is a one off duff as she is my favourite author but this was just dreadful. Cannot find one positive to say 😬

wishy washy clap trap

Oh dear! Extremely disappointing story with irritating narration. Pulls no punches and I guarantee you will figure out the ending by page 10. Mind numbing, dull as dishwater, with a prissy main character whose voice is like nails down a black board. Yes you've guessed it, it wasn't for me!

Terrible until the end

I can’t even describe how I felt about this book really because it’s so mixed. It was so bad I found myself slightly addicted to it.
It was very funny at times though.

If I had the hard copy book I never would have finished it but because it was on audible I listened to the end and that did salvage it a little. I was glad it improved as the first 3/4 were bordering on ridiculous.
Wouldn’t say don’t read but certainly wouldn’t recommend it (I love the majority of Sophie kinsella’s work and usually rave for weeks after each book)

Really Disappointing

Overall just a bit boring and predicatable. Wasn't taken by either characters or narrator. Usually love Sophie Kinsella but this fell flat.

Well I loved it

I read the reviews and thought - oh I don't think I will like this

I almost didn't even try.

but I found it heartwarming and so funny in places that I laughed out loud.

Maybe people took this too seriously. Its a cute fun story, with much humor between the lines

The most unlikeable character

I’ve never disliked a character in a book as much as disliked Ava. She is SO pompous and inconsiderate to everyone around her. I keep listening to see if anything happens but nothing happens.

Mixed feelings

I've not read Sophie Kinsella for years and really looked forward to this book.

The premise seemed really good and I like the overall message of the story but I found some events very predictable.

The main thing I disliked about this book was the extremely annoying main female character and the whole book is her story so this was obviously a huge minus. I found her extremely irritating and unrealistically stupid so I almost wanted to give up on the book from the first chapter!

I kept pushing through to the end just for the sake of it since I'd bought it but found it a bit tedious and it definitely wasn't a page turner it didn't keep me gripped at all.

There were a few parts that made me laugh and a few thought provoking lines but overall the lead character's overly and slightly unrealistic quirkiness grated at me and I didn't really enjoy this book, sadly.

Absolute drivel story and dreadful narration

So disappointed with this audio book. I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed all of the Sophie Kinsella/Madeleine Markham physical books, and cannot believe this absolute drivel is written by the same author?! Flaky vacuous immature dull characters and storyline. Apologies for insulting any teenage authors, but a 13yr old could do a million times better! The narration by Fiona Hardingham is just as bad - unimaginative, unrealistic and artificial voices specifically the awful abrupt stilted fake and totally unbelievable voice of the lead character Dutch. Thank goodness this was only a free 30-day trial. Sorry Audible but if this is the quality of output, I won’t be trading up with a subscription! Don’t waste your time listening to this utter rubbish!

Nowhere near as good as other Sophie Kinsella book

This book is a love story between two quite annoying and very incompatible people. I spent most of the book hoping they would break up. There is some of the usual humour you expect from a Sophie Kinsella book but not enough to save it in my opinion.

Hilarious!!

A great, uplifting story! A little slow at times but it was so funny and I was laughing out loud at some points. Great story to listen to whilst commuting!

I regret this book

The start
The middle
I regret
The end I liked...because everyone grow common sense and behaved like adults.
I could skip half the book and not be lost in the plot. I was annoyed and bored by the main characters, most of the time. do your self a favour and don't waste your money.

Ok ... but socially problematic

The heroine is a totally useless woman even though she’s not meant to be. This sort of story is the reason why women end up unhappy in marriage, unrealistic male roles and plot. These are the things I was annoyed by but otherwise the story was ok in parts. The reader was quite good too.

Disappointing for Sophie Kinsella

Usually love Sophie’s books but this one was tough to get through. Too much random bits of nothingness and no connection between the couple. Lots of random and unnecessary plot added into the last two chapters. Fiona hardingham is still an enjoyable narrator
