"The Greatest Story Ever ToldDispute over land and kingdom may lie at the heart of this story of war between cousins-the Pandavas and the Kouravas-but the Mahabharata is about conflicts of dharma. These conflicts are immense and various, singular and commonplace. Throughout the epic, characters face them with no clear indications of what is right and what is wrong; there are no absolute answers. Thus every possible human emotion features in the Mahabharata, the reason the epic continues to hold sway over our imagination. In this superb and widely acclaimed translation of the complete Mahabharata, Bibek Debroy takes us on a great journey with incredible ease." same feedback as for Part 1: please use one name for one character across the reading. very confusing otherwise.

The Mahabharata is probably my favourite piece of literature in the world, and Debroy did a good job in the translation. The flow is not as sweet as Kamala Subramanyam's version, but a truer translation risks that loss. To hear it rendered thus, in an almost monotone, with several sound editing lapses, was heartbreaking. It is almost as if an AI voice has narrated it than a human. It has taken the rasa out of the story, a crucial element given that these ancient epics were meant to be recited.

Unfortunate
