Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names... and believing it makes it true.

Underwhelming
It has Kotler's name on it but the content disappoints. Some of the main issues:
1. Many of the theories given seem to show a world as it should be rather than as it actually is. A reality in marketing is that there are no clean customer segments no very well defined, clearly delineated customer behaviour types. When the authors refer to such segments in broad strokes, postulating definitive strategies, it makes one wonder whether they stem from evidence/data or are just a product of some armchair theorizing. Further some of these theories seem to reinforce long held stereotypes, particularly around the behaviour, likes and dislikes of segments like netizens and youth.
2. Material on the practical aspects of digital marketing seems a little thin. Not much on how to actually market through digital channels. Much of digital marketing is focussed not on working with existing customers (which is more customer service territory) but on finding new ones. Would have loved to see more material here.
That said it offers a good high level treatment of an often chaotic field,
