About this listen

Finding true love is only a matter of time in this heartfelt and hilarious romantic comedy, starring Zoë Chao (The Afterparty), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), and a full cast!

Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights.

But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled. Problem is, the phone can only call one number: her work nemesis, gym teacher Mikey Shannon.

Now future June must help Mikey befriend present-day June to keep her from disappearing. But present-day June doesn't even want to be in the same room as Mikey, let alone become besties. And Mikey isn’t exactly...talkie. Yet he’s spending hours a day with future June on the phone, and even more time trying to befriend present-day June. Volunteering with June at school, check. Facing his fear of roller coasters to make June smile, check. Adopting a puppy and letting her name it. Check.

But what does succeeding in the present mean for future June, and for the serious feelings she and Mikey are starting to catch for one another? Stopping time travel is one thing—but can they stop themselves from falling in love?

A good read, seemed like it tried to push the romance too much (when i was reading continuously) but then started flowing better (maybe giving it a small break helped too).

Story is good, performance is very good. Most of the jokes work, the unrealistic premise doesn’t prove to be any hindrance.

A nice one time read, overall.

Decent listen, sometimes tries to push too much, but grows on you in the second half.

Time travel, anxiety, quiet courage, and a love that spans timelines—Maybe This Time is unlike any romance I’ve ever listened to, and it’s absolutely unforgettable.

June Flint, a socially anxious schoolteacher, finds herself 85 years in the future after accidentally falling through a wormhole during a solar flare. Isolated and hidden from the world, she spends five long years with only an eccentric scientist and canned food for company—until one day, her phone connects across time to Coach Mikey, a kind, grounded man from her original timeline. He’s back at the very school where June once taught, four weeks before her disappearance.

What follows is a deeply tender and organic love story, told through phone calls that slowly build trust, friendship, and—against all odds—a connection strong enough to defy time. June's vulnerability and Mikey’s unwavering sincerity make for a pairing that’s quietly powerful. Their conversations are filled with small, meaningful moments that add up to something so much bigger than either of them expect.

The audiobook narration is phenomenal. The voice actors don’t just read the lines—they live them. The emotion, pacing, and natural dialogue delivery made me forget this was fiction. It felt real—no over-the-top drama, no forced banter—just two souls finding each other through quiet persistence and genuine care.

There are zero cheesy clichés, just pure, heartfelt storytelling. If you're craving a romance that's thoughtful, unique, and beautifully narrated, Maybe This Time will absolutely steal your heart.

Loved the characters, the Dolby Atmos effect, the vocal acting and the funny flirtatious script… Loved the performance of Noah Reid - he made his character so alive and Zoe Chan was also a good partner…

It was an awesome experiential conversational story!

The emotions exhibited by both voice actors. Could feel it like its happening in front of me. Background sounds were in point too.

Great narration! Story nicely told! Predictable but swoopingly charming. Finally something other than bad guy turned good.

Great narration. Good story.
