Love this series to pieces!

Did I mention I love this series!! It is part cozy mystery, part contempo romance and a whole lotta ghostie fun!

Helene cracks me up! She is just so much trouble!

The lead this time is Sabine, who we met in the first book and had a tiny taste of what was to come for her.

I love her sassy attitude. She does annoy a touch with her fake psychic job, although she is more of a counselor to her clients.

Beau is a deliciously hunky PI. He is a perfect match for Sabine! Love their dynamic.

This is a open bedroom door, that means at least one scene with a little steamy detail!! Not your typical cozy at all! It is not a full on smexy erotic read, but it is far from squeaky clean. I loved it!

This is a mixed narrative, that flows nicely. We go between the two leads POV for most of the book, with a few supporting spots thrown in throughout. Gives a much fuller read!

The mystery this time was more predictable, well up until the curve-ball. If you see it coming, you are a whole lot wiser than me! Twists can be fun but this was totally left field!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who is fantastic. I love the gentle roll to her Southern accents, they are light but distinct. The pace is quick enough to keep the reader engaged and her energy is wonderful. Great voices that stayed distinct and consistent.

I am really enjoying this series and can not wait to see what happens next!!! Super quirky fun series!!!

not enough of the mother inlaw !!!!!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

probably not this one

Would you be willing to try another book from Jana DeLeon? Why or why not?

it depends, I would only listen if I knew there would be more of the mother inlaw she is a hoot !

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No but because I like Johanna parker so much I dealt with it.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

the romance was okay but i got this second book because the mother inlaw is so funny and this book it was like they would forget she was supposed to be in it and then they would throw in a scene and you'd say ok now she is back only for her to disappear again.

Any additional comments?

The writer seemed to have forgotten that the series is called the ghost in-law the first book was good the second was too, since it was through the ghost mother in-laws eyes. but the 3rd she was hardly around so I am not sure I will use a credit to find out if she did the same thing in the next book.

Enjoying the series, has some good humour

Any additional comments?

There seems to be a need for some authors to throw in to pieces they have written unnecessary sex scenes. I am not in any way a prude, but in the middle of what had been a good funny story comes a sex scene that is rather descriptive and not at all necessary. This could be skipped by the author making a suggestion of the "event".

Skip this one

I enjoyed the first book in this series very much. Quirky, lol fun, characters with some depth, and who doesn't love a ghost story! The second was short and a bit disjointed but assuming you've read book #1, this one fills in the ghost MIL's point of view. However, this book just didn't do it for me. The ideas were ok but the prosecution of the story is sloppy and full of holes. We expect a certain amount of suspension of disbelief, but this one requires so much it's just annoying. It feels like the frame-work of book#1 with silly moves in the romance story that sound more like a Jr High romance than adults and too much like the romance in book #1 with aforesaid silly moves added. And the Vietnam angle, nice idea but not in the least believable unless the reader knows nothing about the military and Vietnam. After reading Book #1 and #1.5, I purchased the next two. This one is going back. I'll give the next one a try but if it's like this one I won't bother finishing it and it will go back too.

Medical facts so far from the truth

I’m so worried that readers will take the medical information as being truthful. The story is great but the medical facts are so far from even being remotely true.

Ghostly mischief

I enjoyed this book but must confess I prefer the author's Miss Fortune series better. This book is more focused on the romance side of the story and it takes a while for the mystery to get going. This is book two in the series and with the unusual names it took me a while to work out the main character wasn't the same one from book one. The series seems to focus on a different characters love life and the mystery surrounding her, with the long running mystery of who killed Helena Henry through out them all (so don't expect to find out all the answers surrounding the ghost, as you only find out a few clues ready to continue on in the next book). The main mystery does get solved and once it got going and Sabine discovered who her family was it become more interesting. I can't say I did guess who the killer or would be was because the story wasn't quite what it seemed and throw up some interesting twists. I loved the ghost interaction, especially the way she tried to help which got a few chuckles from me. Off to learn more about Helena with the next book and while waiting for the next fortune book.
Sabine gets the news she has been dreading, her cancer is back and the only way to save her life is from a donation from a Family member. The problem is Sabine is adapted and never knew her family. Then she gets a visit from Helena Henry offering to help and Sabine know is in even more trouble than she thought because Helena is dead. Sabine hires a private investigator and what he discovers complicates things even more. She is related to a rich family, a family with there own secrets to keep. Will they open up there arms to welcome a long lost relative and give Sabine the help she needs or are some secrets to deadly to come out?

Mischief in Mudbug

Following on from "Trouble in Mudbug" ghost Helena helps to protect another citizen of Mudbug in her own unique way. This funny mystery had me laughing out loud all the way through. Read brilliantly again by Johanna Parker.

Awesome Who-Dunnit Vibe!

I was guessing the whole time! Rather pleased to say I figured out at least 2 twists but I missed a boat load of other plot twists I simply did not see coming! I was hooked, so much so I'm tempted to draw a family tree just to keep it all straight! Wonderful story with lovable lead and supporting characters, villains hiding in plain sight,, and one very mischievous ghost!

Great books

I did not enjoy the Audible versions of these stories as much as I hoped.
