About this listen
When the affluent Lintons of Lenox Hill summon Sarah Brandt to examine their teenage daughter, their worst fear is confirmed: she is with child. The pregnancy is a mystery, however, as the young woman - mentally still a child herself - is never left on her own and denies that any man has ever hurt her. It's a delicate situation, one which casts suspicion on those close to the Lintons, including their beloved minister, the Reverend Oliver Upchurch. As midwife Sarah Brandt and a reluctant detective sergeant Frank Malloy investigate, fate deals their inquiry a harsh blow. The reverend falls dead during a service, poisoned by cyanide-laced wine in his chalice. Now, they must not only uncover the truth behind the Linton girl's pregnancy but also track down Upchurch's killer before this sordid affair wreaks havoc on more innocent lives.

Murder on Lennox Hill takes on issues that are relevant even in the 21st century: lack of s*xual literacy and skilled parenting.
Victoria Thompson has written many novels, and it does take skill to develop the murder mysteries in an era that most people have forgotten about. However, to write about topics of s*xual abuse and dealing with mentally unstable people, it's a fine line.
The story covers the pregnancy of a young, intellectually disabled girl and the question of how it happened, since she is rarely left alone. The quest for the father leads Saran Brandt back into high society and a church, where more scandals are revealed and a suspicious death occurs. Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy assists Mrs Brandt in here search and then assist with solving the circumstances around the suspicious death.
There are many who would think it crazy for adults in their prime to spend their time caring for their aging elders or unstable family, while others think it awful to place them in a place that is almost akin to an orphanage. To manage to show the mental drain of caring for such people while working and salvaging a semblance of a normal social life, it's well done in this book.
This book has several scenes with little Aggie and the now active Brian. They are so cute 😍
