In this captivating debut story, a young woman in India about to plunge into an arranged marriage seeks the advice of an older friend - an eccentric expat who has led an unconventional life.

In a quiet suburb of New Delhi, two next-door neighbors develop a friendship: one, a young woman engaged to be married, and the other, Nadine: a woman in her 60s living with her second husband. We follow these two women through their phone calls and visits together, diving deeper into Nadine's storied past: With her larger-than-life personality and proclivity to defy society's conventions, her insight weighs heavily on her young friend, about to face a major turning point of her own.

Nadine is a poignant short story about the choices, big and small, that shape our lives.

This short story is a sort of a conversation between two women - one an older, independant woman and the other a much younger one, about to be married and start a new life. The story revolves around the life of the older woman , Nadine, and her experiences in life as she tries to alert the younger woman to some of the darker aspects of a wedded life which she herself had felt and experienced.

Perhaps what's most interesting about this story is the point of view from which the events are described and narrated - the point of view of a strong minded, free thinking, independant woman, born and raised in a different generation, when societal norms and views were much different from what they are now. The story, although short, delves into the wants and needs of women in a marital relationship - the need to be loved and cared for - and how neglect ruins relationships.

All in all, this story discusses something which is rarely discussed in popular culture - an insight into the lives and minds of women - something quite intriguing.
