Deutschland, 1933: Ernst Lossa stammt aus einer Familie von "Jenischen", Zigeuner, wie man damals sagte. Er gilt als schwieriges Kind, wird von Heim zu Heim geschoben, bis er schließlich in die psychiatrische Anstalt in Kaufbeuren eingewiesen wird.
Hier nimmt sein Leben die letzte, schreckliche Wendung: Obgleich geistig völlig gesund, wird Ernst Lossa 1944 die Todespritze verabreicht.
Der Autor berichtet aus der Perspektive des Jungen. Er macht die Denkstrukturen des NS-Regimes sichtbar und berichtet von der damit einhergehenden Ideologie der Euthanasie.
