हिंदी साहित्य जगत में मुंशी प्रेमचंद का अग्रणी स्थान है और 1928 में पहली बार प्रकाशित 'निर्मला' आज भी उतनी ही प्रासंगिक है जितनी तब थी।

हालांकि पॉडकास्ट का आखिरी शब्द एंजॉय है, पर आप इस नोवेल को कभी भी एंजॉय नहीं कर सकते। मुंशी प्रेमचंद जैसे महान लेखक की समीक्षा करने के लिए मैं खुद को काबिल नहीं समझता मगर नोवेल में बस शुरू से ही हर एक पुरुष को मारने का जतन होता प्रतीत होता है। पहले निर्मला के पिता अपनी पत्नी से कहा-सुनी के बाद मजाक में ही घर छोड़ जाने का बहाना करते है और बाहर जाते ही खत्म हो जाते है, फिर मंशाराम घर से निकाले जाने के ग़म में बीमार होते है, मुंशी तोताराम यह बात जानने के बावजूद भी उसे घर नहीं लें जाते, फिर सुधा डॉक्टर की पत्नी होने के बावजूद भी झाड़ फूख पर यकीन कर लेती है और पुत्र सोहन 2 दिन बुखार के बाद मृत्यु पाता है, उसके बाद जीयाराम को पता नहीं सभी गहने चोरी करने की क्या जरूरत पड़ जाती है और जो अपने पिता से बिल्कुल न डरता था पकड़े जाने पर शर्म के मारे खुदकुशी कर लेता है, फिर न जाने क्यों इतनी सुशील निर्मला निर्दयी हो जाती है और अकेले बचे पुत्र सियाराम का अच्छे से पालन-पोषण करने के बजाय उसे घर के काम में लगा देती है, और वो परेशान होकर पलायन कर देता है, फिर मुंशी तोताराम भी अपनी बहन, पुत्री और पत्नी की चिंता किए बिना पलायन कर देते है, उसके बाद डॉक्टर साहब भी एक छोटी सी चूक की वजह से रातो-रात खुदकुशी कर लेते है।

munsi premchand is my favourite writer.
and this book is reality of many women like Nirmala. she suffers a lot because of her husband nature. and because of societal norms. jiya ram and siya ram is most realistic character.mansa ram is my most favourite character.
and listening this book in piyush agarwal voice is a wonderful experience.
