story feels quite real and keeps you tightly attached.
I completed it in 3 days and liked it a lot even though it was sad.

Premchand was always in the context of a chapter in Hindi literature in school. This is my second Premchand narrated by Sameer Goswami and my mind is already wondering what next. I started Nirmala, right after completing Godaan. Such is the magic of Premchand- Goswami cocktail. I must add here that I wouldn't be able to read a page of Hindi fluently so an audiobook is my only go to for any book not in English, i.e. Bangla and Hindi.

The context of human relationships in a non Tech era, perhaps 80 odd years ago, feels fresh and direct as compared to our self-absorbed and self-obsessed world where, each of us has a tech bubble around ourselves. Its not as wide in its setting like Godaan, but limited to what happens to Nirmala after her father's untimely demise. It's not a book I would read again but one that I will remember.

Premchand Ji at his humorous best without putting extra efforts to make it humorous, mix of all emotions from tragedy to envy, how same human can have multiple shade and layers of character, this novel describes it in best way, thumbs up, must listen !👍

Amazing

An awakening story

What an amazing book by Munshi Premchand. We dive deep into each character’s inner tribulations. Although it’s written in a different era, it is still as relevant as any time.
