Celebrating her 45th birthday at her local pub, podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie is also celebrating her 45th.

A few days later, they bump into each other again, this time outside Alix's children's school. Josie says she thinks she would be an interesting subject for Alix's podcast. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

Alix agrees to a trial interview and indeed, Josie's life appears to be strange and complicated. Alix finds her unsettling but can't quite resist the temptation to keep digging.

Slowly Alix starts to realise that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it Josie has cajoled her way into Alix's life - and into her home.

Soon Alix begins to wonder who is Josie Fair really? And what has she done?

This audiobook includes additional performances from: Jenny Walser, Kristin Atherton, Tom Judd, Ayesha Antoine, Elliot Fitzpatrick, Alix Dunmore, Dominic Thorburn, and Lisa Jewell herself.

Critic Reviews

Lisa Jewell creates genuine tension as she shifts the reader’s sympathies this way and that
A mix of novel, podcast and Netflix documentary script, it’s a creepy and compelling story
A must-read for true crime and podcast fans who enjoy a book that makes you think harder about our contemporary compulsion to overshare
Lisa Jewell is the master/ mistress/ maestro/ don (take your pick) and None of This is True is her best yet. And that is saying something

Left with more questions than clarity. But nevertheless created genuine curiosity. Unravelling of the truth could have been more clear and elaborated.

enjoyed the audio version more than reading the book. It is indeed a movie material I suppose.

Gripping

The performance was really good and kept it interesting. Background music and sound effects were a major plus. The story is gripping and keeps you involved. The alternate ending idea is a little hard to settle in. Not sure how to process it. Not sure how it ties up with the whole story. But enjoyed the storytelling and styling of the novel.

Top notch performance

The book seemed to have been written for a TV show, the plot kept changing as a result there were inconsistencies in the storyline. The dramatisation seemed to be an unsuccessful effort to cover the mediocrity of the book.
