Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Story
I know I should stay away from Ian Parker. But when my drug-dealing stepdad kicks me out, I have nowhere to go. Squatting in an abandoned shed on Ian’s grandpa’s farm seems like as good a plan as any. Ian finds me there, of course, and he insists on me moving into his spare room. I should say no, but the appeal of a roof and a warm bed is too much. Not to mention Ian’s brown eyes and strong arms. We’re nothing alike, but the spark between us is undeniable. But then I call the cops on my stepdad and unintentionally get my pregnant mom arrested.

Story
Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface. She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they're both drawn to sad things. Which means they're drawn to each other. Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn't realize is that a rip current is coming, and it's about to drag her heart out to sea.

Story
I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day, it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

The worst part is that I should have known better. Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes. “Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He walked into school on his first day and owned it. I guess that's what happens when you're a prick, rich, and you're best friends with the ruling school's king. Also didn't hurt that he's drop-dead gorgeous. That's all fine. I mean, I have nothing to do with them. I'm a loner, invisible, and that's how I wanted it to be. I was even proud of it, until I wasn't. His name is Blaise Devroe. My name is Aspen Monson. He only knew how to get, command, and demand attention. I knew how to do everything but that. Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother. And that his best friend has a crush on me. And that I just moved in with them. Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

Publisher's Summary
An Amazon Charts best seller
Wall Street Journal best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers a smart and sexy contemporary romance about a smoking-hot professional football player and the small-town girl he can’t resist.
We start off with a lie on Valentine’s Day.
My blind date isn’t the studious guy I expected: He’s a drop-dead gorgeous player with sinful amber eyes. Somehow we end up at his penthouse. I blame the gin and tonic.
The next day I learn he’s Jack Hawke - bad-boy professional quarterback with a murky past. The NDA he has me sign should be a warning that he isn’t a regular person. Please. I sign it Juliet Capulet, so goodbye, famous football player with abs of steel, and good luck tracking down this small-town librarian.
But Jack keeps showing up in places I least expect him. Just when I’m sure he’s gone, he waltzes into my community theater and wins the part of Romeo to my Juliet. How’s a plain, mostly innocent girl like me supposed to resist a man like him?
Is Jack my real Romeo...or will this gorgeous football player only break my heart?

The male narrator is wretched
His female voice is offensively weak, more of a caricature of an annoying middle aged woman. it’s shocking he was chosen. Couldn’t even get past a chapter of his voice.

Adorable Story but....
I won’t go into the actual story, just know it’s a really cute sports romance that features a hot as hades misunderstood “bad boy” pro QB and a normal “everyday girl” heroine.....not to mention the support cast is like the second coming of Steel Magnolias....
My issue here is SOLELY with the narration.
Savannah Peachwood does her thing, I adore her and she is about the only female narrator who can do a Southern twang accent without sounding ridiculous and overdoing it. However, the male narrator? I don’t know him so I took a chance....I couldn’t listen to his chapters. In fact, I listened to so little of this audible and yet I’m still chancing not being able to exchange it and getting back my credit just so others possibly skip it and don’t waste theirs. I’ve seen a review complaining about his female voice and I firmly agree, it’s INSANELY RIDICULOUS.....but I likely would’ve been able to get over it. No, his entire narration style was awful and didn’t fit Jack at all. Like, I know I complain that Sebastian York and Joe Arden are overused in popular books BUT I would’ve taken them over this guy and that’s saying something. I HATE to pick at someone for their craft, his voice isn’t bad, it’s just not the kind of male voice necessary for ROMANCE audiobooks. It is missing that.....that.....idk the “it” factor.
Do yourself a favor, save the credit and just read the book.

Fun and Sexy Romance!
I originally read this book (see my review below), but when I saw that it was a read/listen now via Kindle Unlimited, I decided it was time for an audio reread. Savannah Peachwood was wonderful as Elena and I really enjoyed her performance. This is my first time listening to Eric G. Dove and though his performance was good, he didn't match Jack very well. This was still a good listen though and I recommend the audiobook.
*****
Not My Romeo was a really fun and sexy romance. It starts off with a memorable meet cute and a case of mistaken identity and hooks readers right from the start. I loved the opposites attract chemistry between Jack and Elena. They pushed each other and helped the other bring out parts of themselves that were hidden away. I'm not generally a fan of instalove, but it worked for me in this book and I was rooting for these two to overcome and find their happily ever after. The secondary characters were a lot of fun (Daisy Lady Gang!) and I'm really hoping that Devon and Topher each get books.
The pacing of the story was good, but I did find that it started to stall a bit halfway/towards the end. The misunderstandings and lack of communication became repetitive and I started to grow tired of all the back and forth. I also don't agree with all the decisions our characters made, but I understand the insecurities and fears that were driving them. The ending and epilogue were sweet and such a great way for the story to come full circle, but I wouldn't have minded a bit more groveling ;)

Male narrator didn't do it for me
I wanted to listen to this entire book, it had a great story line, but I couldn't make it past the male narrators chapter. maybe there is a shortage of narrators right now, but he was no where near the age of this character. I can't even finish the book

Male narrator not the best for this genre
I don’t mean to write a negative review, but his voice did not fit the age of the character and his other character’s voices were not easy to listen to. I recommend the book, not the male narrator reading the book. Make sure to listen to sample of his works before purchasing this title.

Ugh! Why! I can’t take the narration of the man! He sounds like a 65 yr old man not some hot 6’ 4” football player. I just don’t understand why they could get someone who at least sounds the part. Super distracting-had to turn it off. Terrible

Not Totally My Romeo
Ok, the story was about 3.5 stars for me, but I enjoy Ilsa’s writing a lot. She has a way with getting into a character which draws me in. I think the thing that was just irritating to me was the sister and the ex-boyfriend. I just really don’t like that how that relationship provided fuel for family discord. Yes, I know it’s a story, but when gossip runs rampant in a small town, you’d think their mom would not allow it. Wrong.
Now to Jack and Elena. I loved their instant and hot chemistry. I really liked how Elena was just unabashed about it in the beginning. Jack was a weird thing for me. I understand his standoffishness, but at the same time, he would go all in on things. Talk about mixed signals. It was a frustrating thing, but that’s just how the story went.
Overall a good book, but I do have to mention the narration.
Savannah Peachwood is one of my favorites and really fit Elena well. Eric G. Dove is a new to me voice and while I didn’t think he fit Jack, I think he did the job okay. I was not a fan of his female voice and that would really throw me off with the audio.

Narration could be better
but it's not so horrible. Peachwood does a good job, Dove is a little shakier but you get used to it. Overall it's a pretty sweet sports romance I did enjoy the side characters though I think some of the side stories were left a little unfinished or wrapped up to neatly.

4.5 stars - loved this story!
Adored this story so I award 5 long-breathy-make-out-kiss stars for it! A funny, gorgeous read.
When Elena Riley's best friend sets her up on a blind date, she never expects him to be so freakin' gorgeous. She also never expects to end up back at his place, or to wake up to an empty bed, and a note that proves him to be a liar. However, that's not the last she'll see of him.
Jack Hawke has trust issues and an NDA to protect his privacy. However, Elena is seeping beneath under his skin and making him throw caution to the wind. He definitely knows that one night is not enough for him but his fears may just damage something that could be amazing.
I adored this story. Elena was a fab female lead. I loved that she walked her own path, yet didn't realise how magnetic and charismatic she was - the effect she had on other people. She was direct, sassy, and had some great verbal comebacks. Jack was misused and misunderstood. Under his gorgeous, hunky facade was a surprisingly sweet guy. I giggled and melted at his favourite things but thrilled at his dirty-talking mouth! These two had intense chemistry and were made for each! The kissing alone was so sexy! Another fabulous read from one of my faves!
In terms of narration, I adore Savannah Peachwood's voice. She's really expressive, has fantastic timing and pacing, and does a great job with the male voices. I've never listened to Eric G Dove before but must admit that he didn't quite hit the spot for me in this particular story, which is why it's 4.5 stars overall for the audiobook, but because I love the story, I enjoyed the audio on the whole.

Loved this story and really enjoyed the woman’s voice. Do have to say it had taken me a bit to get into the male’s voice but truly wished it didn’t end.
