Adam Scott listens to the reading of his father's will, aware that the contents can only be meagre. The Colonel, after all, had nothing to leave - except a letter he had never opened himself, a letter that can only bring further disgrace to the family name. Publisher's Summary
Don't get mean, get even.... One million dollars - that's what Harvey Metcalfe, lifelong king of shady deals, has pulled off with empty promises of an oil bonanza and instant riches. Overnight, four men - the heir to an earldom, a Harley Street doctor, a Bond Street art dealer and an Oxford don - find themselves penniless. But this time Harvey has swindled the wrong men. They band together and shadow him from the casinos of Monte Carlo to the high-stakes windows at Ascot and the hallowed lawns of Oxford. Their plan is simple: to sting the crook for exactly what they lost - not a penny more, not a penny less.

One of the first but one of the best
Jeffrey Archer is a master storyteller & this story demonstrates this .
The twists & turns of the story keep the reader/ listener hooked from beginning to end.
The details of the original scam & the plans to recoup the money are meticulous in their detail & make the plot so much more believable .
An excellent story , well read .

Favourite story, cracking pace
Always a favourite, this story is so well paced. It was great to hear it again. However, the usual poor pronunciation that seems ‘normal’ on audio books is such a shame. What can’t the producers engage British actors to read British books? In this one, ‘Baliol’ and ‘liqueur’ come to mind first. We use so many foreign words in our sophisticated vocabulary, especially French, and they catch US actors out all the time, as well as some of our British actors. It’s time to improve editing and quality control, so that great books like this are not devalued.

John Lee is a very talented narrator, but there were times when he could have spoken a little slower, particularly in the early chapters as the story and characters were being outlined.

A thoroughly good read.
What did you like most about Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less?
A really good gripping story. I enjoyed as much as I did the first time I read it in the mid 70s. It's one of those"old-fashioned" stories with a really bad baddie. I loved the twist in the tale at the end, too.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less?
The last bit! But I won't spoil it!
