Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Drifters in search of work, George and simple-minded friend Lennie have nothing in the world except each other - and a dream. A dream that one day they will have some land of their own. Eventually they find work on a ranch, but their hopes are doomed as Lennie - struggling against extreme cruelty, misunderstanding and jealousy - becomes a victim of his own strength.

Tackling universal themes, friendship and a shared vision, and giving a voice to America's lonely and dispossessed, Of Mice and Men remains Steinbeck's most popular work.

Leaves it's mark

The title just caught my eye and I bought it instantly, and I was expecting some rancor, and frustration against humanity. Yet, it left a feeling different from what I expected.

Everything about the story is so full of life and it's dullness that I was quite bored till the last.. until the end happened.. and I was sucked into the pool of thoughts of how humanitarian the whole book is..

It is as heartening as it was decades ago. Beautiful narration and accurate depiction of the story.
