Publisher's Summary
Rahul Pandita was fourteen years old when he was forced to leave his home in Srinagar along with his family. They were Kashmiri Pandits—the Hindu minority within a Muslim-majority Kashmir that was by 1990 becoming increasingly agitated with the cries of 'Azaadi' from India. Our Moon Has Blood Clots is the story of Kashmir, in which hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits were tortured, killed and forced to leave their homes by Islamist militants and to spend the rest of their lives in exile in their own country. Rahul Pandita has written a deeply personal, powerful and unforgettable story of history, home and loss.

The Horror is Real
It is incredible that this happened to a community in independent India. There is so much of loss, pain and misery and not the kind that comes from leaving one’s home or the death of an elder or the loss of a chance to go back but an incredibly painful amalgamation of all these along with the death of hope. And to top it all of exploitation even in those tough conditions continues. While I listened I had a constant feeling of rage and horror at what was done to the Kashmiri Pandits. A very well written memoir. The narrator’s voice grows on you as you continue listening. And then his pronunciation of the Kashmiri and Hindi words is so good that you end up liking his voice.
