Publisher's Summary

An unpauseable new romance from New York Times best-selling, Audie Award-winning author Kylie Scott - available in audio first!

When Anna wakes up from a coma after a car crash, she discovers life has gone on without her. Her husband has been unfaithful - with her best friend - and she’s been long since replaced at work. While her old life is a distant memory, her new life feels like an empty shell. Then she meets the stranger who saved her life during the crash, and he changes everything.

Leif Larsen - tattooist, joker, and player - has his own scars thanks to the crash that put Anna in a coma. Helping her move on from her failed marriage, and create a new life, sounds like a perfect distraction. So when he needs a new roommate, he invites Anna to begin her new life with him.

Although their lives may have been put on pause, together they just might find a way to heal.

Ah-maze-ing story and narration!!!

I loved this slowburn romance. Anna and Leif were amazing. I couldn't get enough of how supportive Leif was. All he wanted was for Anna to find herself. Anna is fabulous. She woke up from a coma to find her world flipped upside down. What she believed was completely turned on its axis. Anna had to find herself. I loved listening while she found herself. She became empowered and I loved watching her become a stronger her.

"It's more the whole of you that drives me crazy." -Leif

The narration was perfect. Andi Arndt is a fabulous narrator and I felt like she gave Anna life. It's odd, we don't get Leif's POV through this book but I would have loved to have his thoughts. This isn't a negative thought, I could have used 4 more hours of this book and would have loved getting his side. Saying that, this is an amazingly strong and powerful story as it is. I love finding a book where a woman is on a mission to find herself and she does. She comes out stronger and Arndt knocked the narration out of the park.

Put a Smile on My Face

So good. The story was compelling and the chemistry between Anna and Leif was electric. I adore all of Kylie Scott’s protagonists. It’s amazing just how much character development and growth were packed into one story. There were so many emotions. This was the perfect way spend the day and put a smile on my face.

Disappointed

I was intrigued by the story but very turned off by the language and by the unnecessarily graphic love scenes. The love scenes were more pornagraphic than loving. Definitely not romantic.

Standing for what is right!

I loved Anna and Leif! Anna is coming out of a coma. Leif was hit on his motorcycle by Anna as a result of her being hit. He reads to her while she is in the coma. He is totally swoon worthy like his brother Ed! Her husband, Ryan, cheated on her while she was in a coma with her best friend. Leif is not her normal type. He is tattooed and rides a motorcycle. I admired her spunk in standing up to what is in her comfort zone and truly coming into her own. Loved Andi Arndt’s narration!

Pause

Audiobooks can be hit or miss for me, but this was such a great listen/read. The narration was easy to listen to and engaging. It really brought the characters to life.

This was my first Kylie Scott book and I found myself drawn in by Leif and Anna's story. How strong she was to rebuild her life after her accident and the implosion of her marriage. How she and Leif connected and ultimately found something special with each other.

This was really a wonderful read and I can't wait to try more of Kylie's books.

Pause is connected to the previous book Repeat but is a standalone. It does contain a spoiler for Repeat, though, so you might want to read Repeat first.

Had potential...

Kylie definitely has more talent than most authors of this genre, but man this was rushed. The build up between Anna and Reif was moving along so perfectly (a pleasant surprise) when BAM! End phase 1; Move to phase 2...Que the porn and nasty talk. Blah. Over it.

Loved Leif and Anna!

I really enjoyed Pause! Anna and Leif's story was both tragic and heartfelt. Scott does an amazing job of writing characters that you can relate to and connect with. Both of these characters were involved in the same tragic accident, that eventually brought these two together. Andi Arndt's performance is spot on as Anna. You can really feel all of Anna's pain and passion in her performance as she struggles to find herself again after waking up from a coma. I also just fell in love with Leif! I loved how well his character connected and fell for Anna. Not to mention Andi's male voice is swoon-worthy. Overall, I just really enjoyed this audio!

Like watered down Diet Coke...meh!

So the cover makes you think alpha male..but instead you get boring tattoo artist. Who knew there was such a thing?? So many cliches combined with doth, kind sir, and my ladies. Toss in Twilight binge sessions and one of the weakest heroines ever written and that sums up this audiobook. I barley finished it....and also the sex scenes verbiage made me cringe. So glad I didn’t spend a credit on this!

Pause

I am a fan of the author so hard, that once I knew this book was coming out and in audio no less my audiobook loving heart did a pitter patter!

Anna will steal your heart her story will sadden enrage you, but it will also make you want to cheer her on. Her life hasn’t turned out the way she thought it would but her strength in the face of everything is a sight to behold.

Leif surprised me in all of the awesome ways hero’s do. He wasn’t what I was expecting and I loved that. I like being surprised by a character I thought he would be gruff. But he was just Leif and once you know, you know.

I like the way these two fall for each other well its sweet, it isn’t instant and it isn’t planned but it happens and the way they accept it is sweet. Make no mistake the heat is there it is plain to see.

Yes there are some overlapping characters from other books but I completely would call this a standalone.

The narration, though I like Andi it would be nice to have a new narrator for Kylie’s books shake things up a little bit.
I say this because though the characters are not the same the sound of them is and as someone who loves Kylie’s work I listen a lot and they all are starting to sound the same.

a lovely friends to lovers

This was a very sweet story. It did have some sad moments but overall it's about overcoming some rough obstacles that life throws at them. Leif is the perfect hero. He's kind, patient, protective and supportive.
Anna has been handed a really raw deal, but I love how strong she is. She sticks up for herself and doesn't back down. She might be a little insecure with all that has happened to her, but she pushes thru. And she finds some great people to support her on her journey, including Leif.
I really enjoyed how they created a friendship first. It made for a story that felt more realistic and not just glamorized.
Andi Arndt delivers a fantastic performance that really brought these characters to life.

heart warmer

This book warmed my heart!

Anna has a terrible accident, has been betrayed by not only one person but 2 and is at a crossroads in her life.

Leif was also in the accident and is there after to make sure she is ok.

Leif is a constant support for Anna and man, I had a visual in my head of him and it was glorious!

Loved the narrator,
Loved the story,
Loved Anna,
Especially loved Leif,
100% recommend!

And Anna is correct, taking your bra off is the best moment of the day!!!!!

Enjoyable follow up to Repeat

Headlines:
Accidents
Betrayal
Quick fulfilment

I feel like I’m the champion of Repeat by Kylie Scott, I loved that audio and I’ve since re-listened and re-read. So Pause had big shoes to fill and alongside that Leif wasn’t the easiest character like in Repeat having fouled up in his relationship choices bringing consequences.

Pause started with an accident and hospitals which felt reminiscent of Repeat but I didn’t mind that to be honest, as Anna’s story was different enough to feel new. The circumstances she found herself in however, were pretty vile.

I liked hearing about how Anna’s life unraveled and came back together, I perhaps wanted a bit more narrative about her recovery. Anna and Leif had chemistry but it felt pretty fast moving. I enjoyed the story but I wasn’t wowed by it.

This was a quick listen, I would say this is a perfect for a day or a weekend, with great narration. Andi Arndt excels at male dialogue, so while this is a single POV story, when Leif speaks, it feels so credible on the audio.

Thank you to Audible for the early review copy.

Permanently Paused

Started off so well, interesting premise, good narrator, but it just went on and on and on taking forever to get anywhere, with no second narrator to give it life and zest. Stopped at 1.5 hrs and couldn't get going again. SADLY, DULL

Hard work

Could be based on a true story

The plot and scenarios within this book could very well be likely, and are certainly believable. That being said the story isn’t very out there or as interesting as I would normally be thrilled to read, just a kind of… meh.
Andy Arndt makes the story worth listening to with her usual flamboyant personality that shines through however. Glad this was a free book.

two thumbs up

I listened to this on audible, the narrator, Andi Arndt was amazing.

What is it about the characters Kylie Scott creates that makes them so endearing that they own your heart almost immediately, right? I felt that way about Leif and Anna, with their shared experience of surviving a serious accident that affected them physically, mentally, and emotionally. There were some heavy moments while they sorted through their thoughts and feelings about it. But it was the attraction between Anna and Leif that took them by storm and that dominated the pages right until the happy ending. And I couldn’t get enough.
If you’ve read book one in the Larsen Bros series, Repeat, then you’ve already “met” Leif. If you haven’t read it, don’t worry. We get up close and personal with the gorgeous tattoo artist in this installment. (That sexy book cover is pretty much spot-on!! *dreamy sigh*) I will caution that the plot and outcome from Repeat is briefly discussed here so there are some spoilers but it was necessary for Leif to bring up past events to Anna so she would understand him better. I have to say that he was a good guy right down to the core. Leif had a wonderful sense of humor, was artistic, outrageously flirty at times, but could be sensitive, and was certainly a safe place for Anna to turn.

Anna was one tough cookie–underneath all her understandable baggage and tangled up emotions. She had a totally different background from Leif but was quick to look past it and was honestly more comfortable with him and his down to earth family and friends than a lot of people from her past. The accident was the beginning of a hellish year for Anna. I won’t get into details because they’re an important part of how Scott draws readers into the storyline. Suffice to say, though, that the bond it created between Anna and Leif was instant and only grew from there in a very natural way.
Absolutely sigh-worthy, Pause was a roommate romance that fully delivered with a solid plot and all the heat and emotional depth I expect from Kylie Scott. Definitely recommended.

Was it a repeat

I love Kylie Scott's work and am always waiting for new books from her. This was no exception and the moment I saw it I got it.
It was wonderful to hear Leif's story and to meet Anna.

I think Andi Arndt is a great narrator, but I kept getting confused with the story of Repeat with Ed and Clem. Someone else said the same thing and I can't help agreeing that it may have been better with a different narrator.

There were many similarities between the stories and I had to keep reminding myself that it was a different one.

Still a great listen and one I would recommend.

So-so.

This was free with the audible membership, so it was worth listening to in the background. It's a nice story, but not magical. If it was a movie, it'd be a B-grade chick flick.

The one thing I liked was main male character. He wasn't like a typical "hot guy asshole" which was a nice change.

This was an enjoyable audio. Andi Arndt does a great job bringing the story to life, and I found this easy to listen to. I liked Leif and Anna and their journey was a fun one, though it is also doused in many series issues as well. I liked their connection and the way things came together. Would recommend.

I would be interested in going back and reading or listening to the first book in this series too.

STANDOUT!!!

LOVED this unique storyline, its quite refreshing when you get a story that hasn't been beaten half to death!
The characters were some of my favorites - mature, kind, sexy and hello hello... took their time with each other, got to know each other.
How they met was everything.

This is the first audio book that I have been able to actually get in to and wanted to listen to from beginning to end in quite a while!

Most definitely worth a listen ❤
