How do you find yourself after you lose the one you loved the most?
Lenny has been a bit of a mess since her best friend, Lou, passed away. She's avoiding her concerned parents, her apartment and the list of things she's supposed to do to enjoy life again. The only thing she can handle right now is babysitting a precocious seven-year-old, Ainsley. And if Lenny acts like she's fine, maybe no one will notice she's falling apart. The only issue: Ainsley's uncle, Miles, is always there and is kind of . . . a huge jerk.
But Miles sees right through her. He knows a lot about grief and offers her a deal: he'll help her complete her "live again" list if she'll help him re-connect with Ainsley and his sister. Lenny doubts anything can help, but as she begins to spend more time with Miles, she begins to see that, sometimes, losing everything can be the first step to finding yourself again.

It started off a little slow and I wasn’t even sure about the characters or the romance at first 🤷♀️ but then everything just clicked.
I went in expecting this to be super heavy and heartbreaking, but it’s actually more heartwarming than sad 💛 There’s so much humor woven in that balances the emotional weight really well.
Lenny is deep in grief, trying to survive a loss that feels impossible to carry 💔And then there’s Miles—quiet, caring, a little grumpy 😅 and completely misunderstood. Awkward on the outside, but deeply in tune with grief—and exactly what Lenny needs.
Their connection is slow, gentle, and incredibly real 🌿✨
What stood out the most was how beautifully grief was portrayed—not as something you “move on” from, but something you learn to live with.
“Grief is a relationship… it’s how we keep loving them even though they’re gone.” 🥺
That line stayed with me long after I finished.
This line?? 🥺💛 “Lenny, when I look at your face, I feel like I’m finally home…” Yeah… that’s the slow burn right there.
The romance doesn’t rush—it grows through shared pain, small moments, and genuine understanding ❤️🩹 And by the end, it feels completely earned.
⚠️ Also, audiobook = chef’s kiss 🎧✨ (though a couple of weird audio cuts—one in Chapter 27 😬)
Thought I’d just “like” it—ended up feeling everything 💔➡️💛
Worth a listen ⭐️
