 Die 65-jährige Eva-Maria Sauer verabschiedet sich am 1. Juni 2004 von ihrem Sohn Timothius, dem "Puppenmann", um zu ihrer Freundin an die Nordsee zu fahren. Von dieser erfährt er, dass seine Mutter dort nie angekommen ist.

Verspätet erst gibt er eine Vermisstenanzeige auf, doch Eva-Maria bleibt verschwunden.
