Story
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing. But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant Nobel-prize-nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Story
This is the whole story, right from the beginning: the sun-bleached streets, the grimy bars on the Sunset Strip, knowing Daisy’s moment was coming. Relive the euphoria of success and experience the terror that nothing will ever be as good again. Take the uppers so you can keep on believing, take the downers so you can sleep, eventually. Wonder who you are without the drugs or the music or the fans or the family that prop you up. Make decisions that will forever feel tough. Find beauty where you least expect it.

Publisher's Summary
* Instant New York Times and USA Today bestseller *
What happens when America's First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales?
Alex Claremont-Diaz is handsome, charismatic, a genius--pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House ever since his mother first became President of the United States. There’s only one problem. When the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an altercation between Alex and Prince Henry, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.
Heads of family and state devise a plan for damage control: stage a truce. But what begins as a fake, Instagrammable friendship grows deeper, and more dangerous, than either Alex or Henry could have imagined. Soon they are hurtling into a secret romance that could derail the presidential campaign and upend two nations.
'Red, White & Royal Blue is outrageously fun. It is romantic, sexy, witty, and thrilling. I loved every second.' - Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones & The Six

Couldn’t finish it
I gave up half way through, something I don’t often do, but I just couldn’t take cringing through the rest of the book. Too political, too much uncomfortable smut and didn’t care for any of the characters.

Very UScentric
Story was fine, a few mistakes with royal etiquette but that can be overlooked since the whole thing screams USA. The prince is a supporting character, the whole thing revolves around Alex and his family and friends in the US and its clear that this was not written with a British audience in mind, which is fine, but thought I may have enjoyed it more if the characters were given equal page time and background.

Doesn't live up to the hype
This book went viral on my social media a while back so I thought I'd see what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately it was absolute rubbish. I don't expect a book like this to be hugely realistic but there were a few things in it that showed it was very clearly written by an American who had very little understand of the United Kingdom, referring at one point to 'the Prince of England' like the rest of Britain and the UK doesn't exist. It was small things like that the ruined my enjoyment quite a bit along with the fairly predictable story line. Definitely doesn't live up to the hype.

Romance with important message
It took a fair share of chapters to grab interest in the story. I almost returned it because of that. I'm quite glad I didn't.
The love story would not have this much impact without the context of the world we live in.
I cried. Twice.
But not so much for a couple, so for the hope that one day this HEA could've happened. Hope for a more tolerant and open-minded world.

The 1st son and the prince...a thing?
The idea for a book - is good. Interesting. The bad thing was that the author showed a lack of knowledge about royalty or British royalty. There were a few unrealistic things. The chemistry between Alex and Henry is pretty good. The chapters are a bit too long.

Romance with complications
A great story, superbly read. Lots of angst and interaction between the main couple. I loved the emails with quotes and thought they created a relationship themselves. I will read it again for the uplifting feeling.

Disappointing mix
What happens when you combine an lgbtq+ love story against the backdrop of a political thriller? You get an absolute disaster. This book is a mess, not really knowing what style it is and winds up being overly serious when it should be more frivolous. Better versions of both styles are easily available.

Good story & characters, some WEIRD decisions.
Very_solid_story, characters_were often_described instead_of being_able_to show_off their_personality traits_naturally. Still,_good_characters. lovely_romance_execution, but_first_sex_scene was incredibly offputting. McQuiston's_good_writing_style_NOT_compatible_with_un-sickening_sex_scenes.

The narrator is a master of voices!
The story is amazing, but the narrator is more amazing still. He absolutely nails such a wide range of accents and voices: multiple distinct British accents, multiple distinct Texan voices, a Mexican accent, even a flawless Welsh accent thrown in for one line! It added so much to my enjoyment of the book and made all the characters feel like real people!

Enjoyable
It gets a bit US political which - to be honest - isn’t that interesting to someone who doesn’t care about US politics. But the story itself is good. I feel like the author knew a lot more about American politics than about the monarchy, which made it a little one sided. You could probably explain this off as it being Alex’s POV except that the mistakes were fundamental rather than story-based. I feel like this was a big mistake of the author.
