Publisher's Summary

The first arc in Morgan's Rise to Omniscience. Over 650,000 words in one convenient box set!

This set contains books 1-5 of Rise to Omniscience, as well as the audio exclusive short story, "Beast Zone".

Morgan's life is not easy.

Growing up on the streets of City Four, he is constantly shunned by the other citizens. Morgan doesn't mind being ignored. What he does mind, though, are the constant beatings from the city guards due to his friendship with Sarah, the city lord's only daughter.

Lord Simon wants him dead, but the laws of the kingdom are on Morgan’s side, and even the guards won't kill him just for being seen near his manor. Morgan’s time is running out, though. Lord Simon has deep pockets, and his last visit to the manor may just have put him over the edge. Worse, he is nearing his 16th birthday, and has yet to awaken any abilities. In a world where might makes right, he has never been one of the mighty. What will he do when faced with a life-altering decision, and just how will his decision impact those around him?

Warning: This book contains some profanity, gore, and content that may not be suitable for children. This book also contains GameLit elements such as stat sheets and a form of leveling and experience gain.

Extremely Weak

In my opinion the LitRPG genre has recently seen qualitative growth in content quality. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this series. The overall premise is pretty weak with half-hazard execution. It simply lacks situational depth and has lack luster dialog.

It's almost as if the author lacks enough life experience to add color and flavor to the interactions between characters.

Underwhelming

Its worth mentioning I only finished 2 out of the 5 books before writing this review but I couldn't stand to listen to anymore of it so I have no intent of continuing this book any further. In short, I found the plot to be lacking. Its not uncommon to have a main character strung along by powerful antagonists now and then but this book literally feels like he is dancing to other people's whims and I find it frustrating and boring. The conflict and plot feels like I am watching a national treasure movie in that there are scripted times where the worst thing that could happen does and someone steps in at the exact right or wrong moment.

I could dismiss some of these issues potentially but as the books went on rather than ironing out my issues with the books they magnified. I didn't feel that the system and concept of this book was that interesting or unique and in my opinion it gets worse as it goes on rather than better.

I listen to a lot of LitRPG and I sadly have to say this is in my bottom 10% category as someone who has probably listened to 30-50 series at this point.

Lit-rific

I must say that I had a hard time at first, but as the story progressed and the background was revealed, I started to enjoy myself. I can't say that it's perfect, but I can say that I did have a hard time putting it down. Much like a child growing up or life as time passes, this series has been getting better as it grows and matures. looking forward to the next set of books..

Warning the main female character gets replaced

in the second arc the main female character gets replaced with a 14 year old girl which turns out it makes a irritating boring second half it basically this arc all over again with a 14 year old girl as the second main character so its chapter after chapter of 14 year old drama and training

Difficult to finish

I can’t point to a single major problem with this series. It’s more like several minor problems that add up. The story core idea/goal is fine. But…The story doesn’t always flow well and hits very slow sections along with phases or ideas that get repeated. Morgan and Sarah’s relationship was annoying and tedious at times. Maybe the narrator could have done a better job. To be clear, his read is fine just a bit dry while I don’t like narrators that yell the story. I do tend to enjoy just a tad bit more emotion? (Not sure if that the right word) inflection in his reading.
There were several points I just had to go to another book because I was too bored with the story. The MC was massively under powered. The skills the MC used were limited in fights. I tend to like (not necessarily OP MC’S) but MC’s that are strong. I didn’t feel like the MC was strong in this part of the series. He can beat beasts but losses to human opponents. 🫤 I’m going to try the next set of books in this series hoping things improve.

Excellent

A true journey. A book that brings you through Morgan’s life with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader entertained.

The narration makes this a hard box set to enjoy

For a 65 hour set I would like someone who is more capable than reading a book out loud. Seems like there is very little emotion in anything. Fighting you get the same tone as stopping at an Inn.

Great book series!

interests. written and you can get interested in the characters. One thing that I really like is that there is an actual reason for the MC to be oblivious to love intrests.

Decent, long. Good for the credit

The book has a fairly good storyline, decent plots. It kind of drags at times but since it has so many books in a collection it’s nice to have a good long listen if you go through a lot of books like I do. So it’s well worth the credit if you use them, not sure what the price would be, but I wouldn’t spend more than $15 on it. I wouldn’t call it one of my top 20 books, but I listen to books a lot so getting one that is worth listening too and not having to wait for the next book to come out or having to use a bunch of credits up for a series is nice.

Saw that coming

unfortunately the end of Sara has come to pass. I thought he would absorb most of the core and collect another bauble. This was a somewhat different twist. Looking forward to book 6

What a surprising book

This book drew me into this world and now I can't wait for the next book set!
This is one of the few books that the story is well written and flows so well. There are many unexpected characters that turn into show stoppers. I loved the way the author worked the story, the core characters turn into strong and unique personas. However the way the tie in to the next arc was accomplished is cold blooded.
The narrator did a fantastic job in bringing the story to life. They were able to establish each different character with their own personality.
All I can say is that I really enjoyed this book.
