Wie lange hat Robin sich schon auf den Schiffsausflug mit seiner Klasse und seiner Lehrerin Frau Blasius gefreut! Und dann bringt ihn Herr Elias am Abfahrtsmorgen nicht rechtzeitig zum Schiff. Natürlich nicht absichtlich. Trotzdem - so ein Ärger! - das Schiff ist weg. Zum Trost lädt ihn Frau Veza gemeinsam mit Herrn Elias zu einem Flug in ihrem großen, regenbogenbunten Fesselballon ein. Eine turbulente Fahrt über Hochhausdächer, Leuchttürme und Drahtseile beginnt, es lauert Gefahr durch einen vermuteten Bankräuber, und am Ende ihrer Reise durch die Luft werden die drei sogar zu Lebensrettern.
