Publisher's Summary

The Vincents' nightclubs are popping up all over London. The O'Connells plan to get their hands on the Palaces...but gypsies have no place in the Vincents' business. Disregarding the warnings and the rumours of the disappearance of the entire McManners family, the O'Connells plot a scam so cruel even their own kind shuns them.

Ruby Vincent is now 15, and she may look like her aunt Francesca, but she still has Jesse Right's blood running through her veins. Turning her back on the family, she goes in search of the truth. What she finds will haunt her.... She should have left the boogie man to rot in hell. ‘When you've made your bed, you must lie in it.'

Great listen

As good as the first in the series with good development of characters both old and new - it goes without saying that AA performed to her usual excellent standards

Ruby

Another enjoyable story by Kerry Barnes.
Gripping, interesting and can’t wait for a happy ending.
Annie Aldington, captured the beauty of the story. The accent and modern literature is such amazing.

Not for me

Downloaded on the strength of the reviews and audible recommendation. Probably should have listened to a preview first.
Liked the story and the characters, just felt a bit childish, like a teen book at times, not helped by the narrator. Seemed to jump huge chunks of time too. Like I said, just not for me. Disappointed.

Great Read

I really enjoyed this continuing story... mostly. Not a fan of women being portrayed as victims, but the storyline was gripping. I felt like reaching out and shaking Ruby throughout. All part of the journey.

she did it again

I was glued from the first words. Ruby and Jack were portrayed so sympathetically. I was really invested in Ruby's story and Jack's unhappiness with his sister. the family dynamics among among all the Vincent's was fascinating. again blood thirsty at times but not overly as you would expect from this type of novel.

As good as Martina, love it

I love this author, she is new to me, I am a Martina Cole reader, but she is as good. These books are hard to put down and I can't wait for the next time I can indulge and listen to more. Narrated well, I like the way this narrator copes with the different styles, accents and sex of the characters and it makes me smile when she says swear words. Looking forward to the next book
