About this listen

For years, the Sacred Sleep series has been combining the calming power of God’s Word with soothing, gentle music to create a peaceful and relaxing experience designed to help you get the rest you need while drawing you closer to God at the same time. And now we’ve expanded that experience to include the only extra-biblical book to be directly quoted in the New Testament: The Book of Enoch.

Discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls in the mid-20th Century, the Book of Enoch is not considered canonical by most Jews and Christians. However, a case can certainly be made that it is “sacred” (or set apart for the worship of God). It has played a significant role in the teaching and practice of both faiths over the years, especially during Jesus’ time. There is no better proof of this than in the New Testament Book of Jude, where the Apostle directly quotes the Book of Enoch in verses 14 and 15.

“Behold, the Lord comes with thousands of his saints to give judgment against all, and to rebuke all the ungodly among them of all their wicked deeds which they have ungodly committed; and of all their cruel speech which wicked sinners have spoken against Him.” ~Enoch 1:9

Combine this with Enoch’s unique depiction of events from the Book of Genesis, with minute detail regarding Heaven, the birth of Noah, the Nephilim Giants, and the fallen angels known as the Watchers, and you soon understand why we are so excited to add The Book of Enoch as the 8th volume to the Sacred Sleep series. It is our hope, as always, that the music helps illuminate the text for you and creates a unique bedtime experience that will help you get the rest you need while drawing you closer to God.

Blessings today.
