Publisher's Summary

Caroline Abbott loves her job - helping engaged couples pick out the perfect save-the-date cards and invitations for their dream wedding. Working at Noteworthy means she has to deal with the occasional bridezilla, but Caroline’s always up for the challenge.

Until one particular bridezilla walks into the stationery store whose fiancé happens to be the boy Caroline shared her first kiss with. Alexander Wilder is all grown up now, helping run his family’s successful luxury hotel chain, and is somehow even better looking than she remembers.

When Caroline just happens to catch Alex’s fiancée half naked with another man, well, of course she has to tell Alex. Of course, he breaks off his engagement. And of course, the ex-bridezilla has gone completely bonkers.

At least Caroline has her friends to save her from crazy ex-fiancées. But she also has the sudden interest of...Alex? Caroline knows they share a connection, but is he on the rebound? Or after seeing her all these years later, does he really want something more?

My goodness already...

Sooo, admittedly I'm not finished with this yet. I'm over 5 hours in, on chapter 25 and the couple isn't even together yet!!! Like, not even really showing signs (to each other) that they like each other. The audience only knows what they're saying in their heads. It's excruciating!!! My guess is this will be like the Hallmark movies where they "dance" around each other, sharing longing glances the entire movie, only to share a kiss at the end. Lol. Also, Caroline was a bit annoying at times. Clearly I'm a glutton for punishment, because I do plan to finish it, but this story should be no longer than 4 hours! WHY is this book sooo long?? Total waste and I will be sure to skip the rest from this author. On the plus side, I did enjoy the narrators.

All Smiles

Although this story is entirely unrealistic and uses the same played out tropes: Rich 50 Shades millionaire comes in and saves the day. Hopeless, broke damsel in distress is swept away by his jaw-dropping good looks, wealth, and kindness. I still liked it! Lol (Don't judge me)

There is no real plot, it's pretty much a happy story through and through, but If you want some positivity and "why can't my life be like this?" moments then this is the book for you!

It's included in the new audible plus catalog, so if you have it check it out. If not, I wouldn't spend any money (or credits) on this one.

Told in first person

Some people enjoy first person romance novels. I usually don't and hesitate to even give them a chance, but I have found some I enjoy despite the point of view.

This book was ok but it didn't really have much of a plot. I didn't care for the characters; they didn't have much depth. There wasn't much conflict or relationship building throughout the story. Not much romance in this romance.

I do think the fact this story is told in first person effected my enjoyment of it. If you enjoy first person romance novels, you might want to give this one a try.

If all the non-romance parts of this story were cut, the core story might be enjoyable as a short novella. The lack of character development wouldn't be as obvious and what is presented here would be better served in that format.

Decent

First things first, if you want to avoid romance books with a lot of sex scenes (like I do) then this book is okay. Only one section of it, so you could realistically skip over it if you’re weirded out by that sort of thing.

Secondly, although there are two narrators, they only switch off if the chapter is in the male or female perspective (so if it’s a female POV all male voices that chapter are still done by the female narrator) not sure if any narration is done differently, but I figured I’d point it out.

Thirdly, the book is structured the same as a typical romance story, nothing too new. If you’re on a romance binge or want a palette cleanser from a murder mystery (my reason for heading over this way) I mean why not give it a go. It’s free with the subscription

I think my biggest complaint is the “of course a girl would want _____” as if every girl is the same... but I will begrudgingly give it a pass, assuming it’s just the characters points of view (as it is a first person story)

Don't waste your time

I feel like this was written by a 13 year old girl. Awful, just awful.

Entertaining

Monica Murphy is a new author to me and after reading Save The Date I will definitely be reading her other works when time permits.

I really liked Caroline Abbott, she is someone that I could easily be friends with. Working at Noteworthy she specializes in Save The Date and wedding invitations meaning she deals with a variety of brides.

Caroline is shocked when her latest bride’s fiancee turns out to be someone Caroline once knew, Alexander Wilder.

Alex was the first boy Caroline ever kissed and has always held a special place in her heart.

After discovering his fiancee has been cheating, Alex calls the wedding off and instead embarks on a journey of self discovery with Caroline.

Alex is most certainly swoon worthy and I loved the slow burn of the relationship as it built with Caroline.

Caroline’s friends were awesome and just as quirky as her. I really loved how supportive they were.

This is a sweet, romantic, second chance at love story that ticked the boxes for me. Extremely well written this story will take you on a fabulous journey that will leave you with a smile on your face. The narration by Ava Lucas and Jack DuPont was spot on and kept me thoroughly entertained throughout.

A nice romance

First, this book was free with audible plus, so that's nice.
I generally do not like double narrators, and I didn't like it in this book. I find it jarring. Any decent narrator can do more than one voice and I find it a more consistent listening experience with only one narrator. The male narrator was fine but the female narrator was much better than fine.
For those that care, there is some cuss words in the book. There was also a sex scene or two, relatively graphic. I don't like sex scenes in romance books because I want the couple falling in love not just lust, and usually I do not find the sex scenes very sexy. In this book though, the sex seemed appropriate, and for once was even mildly sexy.
I give this book a strong recommendation.

Great listen!

Looking for a funny and romantic book? This is the one for you. Monica Murphy has combined humor, love, second chances, childhood romance and all out passion into this fun filled story. Caroline helps people decide on their wedding stationary, from save the dates to invitations. When Alex, her brother's middle school best friend walks in with his fiance to choose their items, Caroline's life takes a turn. Catching his fiance with another man leads to the break up of an engagement, being pursued by Alex and stalked by his ex! Could this all lead to happiness? What fun this book is! I love stories that have history, and going back to that first love, when you are just hitting the teenage years brings back that butterfly in the stomach feeling! I love the banter between Caroline and Alex, their undeniable chemistry, the craziness of the situation and all the outcomes. It's fast, humorous and just an all around great listen.

This narration team of Ava Lucas and Jack DuPont brings it all to life with their wonderful performances. I am a huge Ava Lucas fan, and with her sultry voice and comedic timing, she gave Caroline a personality that I easily understood and loved! Jack DuPont adds so much to the dual narration as Alex, with a warm and sexy voice, making him irresistible. Their interpretation of the story is incredibly entertaining and you don't want to miss it.

Not My Cup of Tea

I just couldn’t get into this story. I’ve tried twice to listen to it and I just found it so boring.

Really good

I liked very mutch this kind of Blood. The plot was a Little too flat but the love story make up for It. I really like the sweet parte and the Little drama that there is. Good book
