Katinka folgt der Spur in das mittelalterliche Städtchen Coburg, wo sie sich sehr zum Missfallen der dortigen Polizei in die Ermittlungen einklinkt. Diese führen sie zur Arbeitsstelle des Toten, einer Werbeagentur. Als die Detektivin erkennt, dass seelische Abgründe hinter scheinbarem Glück und beruflichem Erfolg klaffen, wird der Burghof der trutzigen Veste Coburg zur tödlichen Falle.
