Publisher's Summary

A new stand-alone contemporary romance that's faster, steamier, grittier...but with the emotional impact you've come to expect from New York Times best-selling author Mia Sheridan.

Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She's even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide - a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different, and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek isn't necessarily the thing you find.

Not one of Sheridan's Best

I'm not even halfway through listening and know this story is not one of Sheridan's better stories. A bit disappointing as some of her other stories I've listened to are much better. It could be in part due to the narrators chosen as they are maybe not the best choice. I do wish writers would not write their female characters out to be so--- dense? Unintelligent? I'm not sure of the exact word but for gosh sakes, write them to be a bit smarter than what she has this Olivia chick. I don't care if you're a city or country girl- if you're going to a country such as Columbia, for gosh sakes write the character to do some research about the land, people, crime, etc. Wouldn't that just be common sense? I don't care if she's going for pleasure or to find the long lost fiancé, give the girl some brains.

What an adventure!

I have always enjoyed Mia's books! My favorite being Leo. I couldn't resist and used my credit on Seek. I have listened to all of her books and enjoy her Sign of Love (Zodiac) series. It's a shorter listen for me, but I LOVED it! Leo is still my favorite, but I rank Seek in my top 4 of Mia's books. I was not disappointed with this suspenseful, Columbia adventure trip. A stranger from the past (from one of her other books) makes an appearance. The steam occurs towards 3/4 of the book. Yes, worth my credit!

Animal abuse

The story was good , but I almost didn’t listen due to animal abuse. I skipped forward quite a bit. There were dog fighting rings....so unnecessary for a good story .

Not my Mia Fav *SPOILERS AHEAD*

Mia Sheridan is queen of emotional romance in my book, but this shorter stand alone rubbed me in all the wrong ways toward the end of this intense ride. I was captivated by Thomas and Olivia’s chemistry right from the start. Yes she hired him to protect and guide her to the fiancé who ran off for reasons unknown, but these two found kindred spirits in one another right away. When the “Mia Bomb” drops, as she undoubtedly has serious talent in building, we find Thomas has significant responsibility where Liv’s shattered heart is concerned. Liv is devastated. Her heart actually physically removed from her chest and stomped on...and friends, here’s where the eye rolling starts.

Thomas, who again, owns as much blame as anyone, never shows significant remorse for the part he played. I almost get the impression because his "cause" is justifiable. he feels immunity toward the very real consequences of Olivia's sacrifice. One minute Liv is standing on the beach vowing she can’t trust her own judgement over her feelings toward him and the very next she can’t help herself and has taken Thomas to bed again! After that turn of events?!?! After he drugged her? Lied to her? Played a willing and knowing part in what he knew would surely be the complete and total destruction of her life?!

Just NO. That can’t be allowed to follow our two lovebirds back to the bedroom! There needed to be some groveling, shutting down and serious redemption effort from Thomas. I wish the book would have been an hour longer and shown some strength on Liv’s part. Go home girl. Walk away. Make him miss you. Let him see you won’t accept being a pawn in his latest effort to rid the world of evil. Sorry Mia, but Thomas deserved fair turnabout and sweet Liv never made him work for his HEA. *Sigh* for yet another weak heroine. 🤬

great book

For being a shirt book, I loved the depth of story and characters. The path to love felt rushed though. and the guy who read shouted the intimate scenes which was distracting.

Great story

I was glad to hear Carson Stinger mentioned because Stinger is my favorite Mia Sheridan book of all time. This book was good but I felt like the ending was rushed and you didn't really get a picture of what their life was like after reuniting. I enjoyed the narrators.

Just too much profanity.

I understand why, maybe, this character would speak this way. It was just too much for me.

I Loved this book!

This book brought out lots of emotions in me. The author showed how the pain of childhood abuse and betrayal can can make someone stronger.
The narrators Stephen Dexter and Callie Dalton really brought home this story! I am a huge fan of Mia Sheridan and now I am a fan of these two narrators and will listen to more of their books.

Lost and Found

Gritty passionate MCs you can actually like, doing things you can admire, until they don't. This is not just a physical journey; this is a safari with more than one type of game. Thomas means twin in Latin, so I knew Brody would be a man divided, set hard in a hard world, Olivia, an actual twin, her name means peace and is a symbol of fruitfulness, beauty, and dignity.

A beautiful entertaining tale, well plotted and told, with ups and downs. Over the course of the journey, tension builds between the MCs till it breaks in a whole night of hot passion, so perfectly narrated by Stephen Dexter. Callie Dalton is the perfect counter-part in this audiobook.

Just like in life, you will need kleenex to mop the tears of pain and tears of joy.

A very enjoyable book. Thank you Audible!

Enjoyable listen

More of an action romance and a bit different to Mia Sheridan’s usual stories, but still enjoyed it a lot. Similar to Jay Crownover and Tillie Cole action romance books, though those have the brutal action on the page, whereas in this story the brutal bits are only referred to by characters.
