Publisher's Summary

Being raised in the foster system has made Kinley Taylor feel like a lifelong outcast, but it's witnessing a young girl's last few minutes on Earth that proves just how alone she truly is. Kinley has no one to turn to, no family, no friends...except perhaps the gorgeous Delta Force soldier she met months ago. The one she ignored when he'd tried to keep in touch, convinced he couldn't really be interested in a relationship.

When Kinley ghosts him not once, but twice, Gage "Lefty" Haskins takes the hint. Clearly the pretty personal assistant didn't feel the same connection he did. Or so he assumes...until she shows up in Texas, on the run for her life after already surviving an assassination attempt. Lefty couldn't turn her away even if he wanted to - and he doesn't. The longer he knows her, the greater the connection he feels. He just has to keep Kinley alive long enough to convince her she's The One.

Easier said than done, when the man who wants her dead has friends in high places...and a very patient hit man on retainer.

Shielding Kinley is the second book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a standalone, with no cliffhanger endings.

NOTE: The word "expect" in the first paragraph was changed to "except".

Another winner

Before I go any further, I need to warn that there are some possible triggers in this book. However, if you're familiar with her books and writing style, this is no different.

Ok, now for the good stuff. Virginia Rose was awesome as narrator. Her transition between characters, her many voices for all the characters, her feeling and inflection. This might be my favorite of hers yet.

And for the story. Kinley is a bit shy and awkward, but given her history and background, it's totally understandable. She has pretty low esteem and, again, given her background, it works for her character. Of course Lefty (Gage) is the kind of hero we all want: sensitive, patient, kind, and understanding, but strong.

The story moves fast, even for a 10 hour listen. I never felt like it dragged on or parts could be left out. There were a couple parts I felt were a little "meh," but overall this story is a winner.

How much can she take...

Kinley proves over and over that she is strong. Foster care, a tough boss...what else should she be expected to deal with? More..so much more. Lefty is her perfect half. He will do everything he can to protect her...even when she refuses to let him because SHE is trying to protect HIM!

Wow. Another one that Miss Stoker has hit out of the ball park. This story warms the heart and at the same time it rips it apart. Well done.

Satisfaction Gauranteed

Another great story and characters you will fall in love with. Different people doing the audio in this series but I kind of like it. It gave the characters a different feel than the other narrator. Looking forward to the next one!

Kinley and Gage learn about sacrifice and love!

Kinley has never really been in love. She has always felt like the odd one out. Lefty (Gage) felt an attraction to her from the time they had shared. She ghosted him the first time but when they met again Kinley promised to give it a try. The night before she goes home, she witnessed something that puts her life in danger. Gage thinks she ghosted him again but discovers the truth when he comes back from a mission.
Virginia Rose does a fantastic job creating the character of Kinley. I could feel Kinley’s angsts and struggle to do the right thing.
Susan Stoker is so consistent with her ability to create real feeling characters and her stories are entertaining as well as enlightening. Wonderful job!

OMG!! Loved this Audiobook/book!! 5⭐️ All the way!!

OMG….I loved Shielding Kinley. As always, Susan Stoker, author, was able to write a military romance that causes one to feel so many emotions. From crying to laughing and back again. It is just one of the reasons that Susan Stoker is one of my favorite authors and is the main reason I love military romances. If you like MC or Military romances you will love this book. Says MC because the military teams that Susan writes about have the brotherhood, alpha men, protective, and honor just like the great MC romances that I love too. Shielding Kinley is part of a series and can be read or listened to as a stand alone but you will get so much more if you read or listen to it as a series so you can get to know each person on Gage’s Delta Team and make it a more enriching experience. I love listening to Shielding Kinley because audiobooks with the right narrators can really bring it to life. The narrators for Shielding Kinley did an excellent job. As always the sex scenes are out of this world 🔥💥. This book/audiobook has it all….emotions, action, alpha men who are protective, confident, treat each as family and inspires loyalty and honor as well. Highly and I mean highly recommend this book/audiobook.

I really liked Kinley and Gage

Shielding Kinley is one of those listens that you can do while easily doing other things. It will keep you listening. It had good detailing introducing Kinley and Gage, then the situation before throwing the danger in. There is really good buy in to the story and characters.

I thought it was sweet that Gage already called Kinley by Kins from the very start. She was so introverted and admitted to herself that she just didn’t know how to interact. Kinley was amazing in her strength. The story didn’t pull any punches in how smart Kinley was about her situations or saving her from danger at the last moment. I appreciated the reality of everything.

Virgina Rose did a great job bringing the story to life. She blended all of the voices together smoothly. She was able to voice Gage without being over the top. None of the male voices sounded girly. I could always tell who was talking. She was able to bring the tension and emotion forward when it was called for. I enjoyed listening to Ms. Rose narrator.

While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone. A lot of the guys names get thrown in at the start, but it’s not necessary to really pay attention to them. I do get a kick out of the cameo appearance by Tex in all of the books. Shielding Kinley doesn’t disappoint.

Another Hit From Stoker

Shielding Kinley is the second book in the Delta Team Two series and it was a page turner. It’s a slow burn romance and paced just right to keep you on the edge of your seat.
You can’t help but fall in love with Kinley because of her strength and determination and hope right along with her that she gets the love she deserves finally.
Just the first thought of big bad alpha men sitting around discussing reasons to get Kinley out of work is hilarious. I got a side eye from my sister when I laughed out loud at the conversation between Kinley and Gage’s mom.
Another hit series great narrator and intense and lighthearted story from one of my go to authors, can’t wait for Shielding Aspen .

Wow! Awesome Story and Narrator! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am a huge fan of Susan Stoker and this book is another hit! I loved the way Kinley learned to open up and love after being with Gage and what a strong woman she was. I love Gage because he was so patient and loving with her. The other characters in the story were great too. This was an awesome story with lots of friendship, action and love! I can't wait until the next book to hear Brain's story and meet with these friends again! Virginia Rose's narration was awesome! Her male voice is incredible! You would think that there is a male and female narrator reading the book. I would highly recommend this book!

Story of a strong woman and the man who loved her.

Kinley is a very strong person. Her young life would make you want to cry. And then when you think her life might change for the better, she becomes a witness of a couple of powerful people doing something very wrong. And they want her dead. By the way, there are twist and turns in this story that I did not expect. But it is a also a wonderful love story as well. Definitely, if you love Susan Stoker's books, you will love this one.

Love this

This has to be one of the better books from Susan Stoker. Although to be fair they are all great.
This one gave me so much more as a listener. The twists and turns to this one had me holding my breath at times.
Gage and Kinleys love affair was a beautiful story that held both love and loss.
I cannot wait for Susan's next book. Thank you Susan you have kept me engrossed in your stories and I have loved them all

Wow, Susan doesn't shy away from brutal graphic details. This one sure has a good story with a good amount of suspense, action, and heat. Can be read as a standalone.

Virginia Rose did an amazing job narrating.

My new favourite author!

This book is brutally honest. The strength of the leading lady is amazing. I love it when the author is fearless in their writing like this book. It shows that not only the characters but also the author is true to the storyline. Excellent performance from Virginia.

Loved Shielding Kinley

I have to say, I really enjoyed listening to Virginia Rose.
A really good narrator and perfect for the great book.

I loved Kinley . A hard and sad past, which did not break her. Only give Kinley inner strength and happy in her own skin.
Gage is brilliant character, yes Alpha ,being a Delta soldier, he has great friendships, loyalty and a amazing family.
The two may have had a different upbringing, but both are made for each other.
You will fall these two characters and the Delta teams.
Kinley finds herself in trouble and needs the help of Gage, who had saved in the past and comes to rescue.
Can friendship become more......
I loved listening to this story and how the two main characters, developed and grew together.
Recommend.

This book is Kinley and Lefty's story (Delta Team 2). Loved this book from the start, its so good when a book catches your attention right from the beginning! Found the narration by Virginia Rose very easy to listen to. I've yet to find a Susan Stoker book I didn't like. Just got to wait for the next book 😀

good story and narration

Absolutely loving Virginia Rose as the narrator! Fabulous job and want to listen to more from her.

The story took a surprising turn that I was not expecting - excellent! I did find this one had more romance than action.

While Kinley is not my go-to heroine in books, I liked her.

Talk about a teaser for the next book - I'm hooked.

my least liked

love Ms Stokers stories and her earlier series where absolutely awesome but this one, out of all the ones I've read is the least liked. I'm not a lover of innocent women as the heroine, it was disappointing, i prefer sassy women. And although the heroine was becoming stronger, she wasnt the type i like to read about. For the first time Susan didn't give the hero enough emotion, especially due to the special relationship the main characters both shared .
i thought the semi climax part of the book would have gone into emotional overdrive but to me, neither of the main characters connected with their heart and the hero, well he did some weird stuff In times of crisis. I felt he had been written in the same persona as his heroine counterpart...not strong enough in character for me...even though he's a delta.
it got a bit far fetched at times and I struggled not to eye roll and although we jumped fwd in time in places, I still felt it stretched on a bit too long.
sadly this story sank in the "great" department. triumph and despair see-sawed but not in a coherent, natural Susan stoker type of way.
sorry Ms Stoker this got jumbled and it was almost in the " I'm going to fast fwd stage"....It was trending towards messy in places... an up and down roller coaster ride, but not gut wrenching like most of your other books. Of course, it won't stop me from reading more though but I really prefer your black ops storyline.
Virginia did well like she has before, but after reading the first in the hawaii series with Jacob and Emma's narration, solo with Virginia or Stella doesn't come close.
This storyline was home grown and started well but too many indecisive decisions followed by about turn decisiveness left me frowning on more than 1 occasion. If you like the quieter and not so edgy plotline along with quiet achiever type main characters, then this is for you.
I'm still loving the "badge of honour" series the most

Adored this book!

This is the first book I’ve read where the character is so similar to myself as an autistic woman. I have always been the outsider and the weirdo, but the way Kinley was loved and accepted for all of her differences, was so heartwarming. I will reread this many times over. Thankyou Susan Stoker!!

Another Susan Stoker Winner

Be prepared for Lefty and Kinsley to put your heart through its paces! I loved Kinsley's character, her uncertainty and fears are something many of us can relate to. Lefty is one of my favourite Susan Stoker heroes to date. He is tender and in touch with his emotions. I enjoy an obvious Alpha hero but Lefty combined his alpha tendencies with tenderness, understanding and a very cute relationship with his mother. Virginia Rose does an amazing job of the narration once again. Five stars all round!
