Moments before he is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention, Oklahoma Governor Buffalo Joe Hayman falls ill. Life is never the same for lieutenant governor One-Eyed Mack, who steps in to deliver the speech that concludes with an appeal for the return of the state's missing mummy. Suddenly Mack's name is being passed around as a possible vice-president.

This is a comic, clever, fast-paced satire of politics told and read by one of this county's best known commentators.

Editorial Reviews

A rollicking political satire written and performed by journalist and anchorman Jim Lehrer. Oklahoma Lieutenant governor One-Eyed Mack travels to New York City alongside governor Buffalo Joe Hayman when the latter is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. Just before the speech Buffalo Joe has a stroke, and One-Eyed Mack goes to the stage instead, delivering the keynote to resounding success. Mack is immediately catapulted into the political limelight and soon finds himself on the short list for vice president. A laugh-out-loud story filled with colorful characters, delivered in folksy tones by Lehrer himself.
