Straight people should have to come out too. And the more awkward it is, the better.
Simon Spier is 16 and trying to work out who he is - and what he's looking for. But when one of his emails to the very distracting Blue falls into the wrong hands, things get all kinds of complicated. Because for Simon, falling for Blue is a big deal.... It's a holy freaking huge awesome deal.

This book is very cute and enjoyable. I couldn't stop myself from crying and smiling during some emotionally tugging scenes.

Nothing impreasive
Dont mean to be rude but this is just a time killer beach book, nothing profound. I don't know if its cause i just read "Call me by your name" but this left me somewhat irritated for its narration and vocabulary of fifteen year old mediocre-intelligent girl.
Also reading from who is it and to whom is it to every email is superfluous.

Simon vs the homosapien agenda
I really loved this book, and found it extremely hard to stop listening. I love the ending and most things in the story, besides the outing and friendship drama. However, it's set in high school concerning teenagers so drama is to be expected. I found myself relating to Simon a lot and was grinning like a fool in most things concerning him and Blue. It's all very sweet.

Oh. My. Freaking. Gosh.
So I watched the film when it came out in cinemas. I was like “this is the best film I’ve ever watched!” I must’ve watched it at least 20 times. And then I was talking to my English teacher about it, and she said the book is really good. I had a credit so I thought I’d listen to it instead. And let me tell you, I don’t think a book has ever made me cry, laugh, grin, blush, swoon and relate so much in my entire life! This is way better than the film, and I 100% recommend for a good love story when you’re feeling down.
•the narrator’s voice is kind of annoying at first but you get used to it and it becomes super relaxing!

Still fantastic
I absolutely love this story. I've read the book half a dozen times, I've seen the film half a dozen more. I've even watched the spinoff show 'Love, Victor'.
I was a little nervous that I would get bored of the audiobook or it wouldn't live up to how I remembered the story, but I'm pleased to say those worries were unfounded.
The voice acting is great - the different styles and tones used for the various characters are subtle but distinct enough whilst managing to avoid falling into the trap being over-the-top/overly exaggerated.
If you are already a fan of the book then you should fully enjoy this. If you have only ever seen the film, then the book/audiobook is 100% worth checking out. Whilst the film did make some changes in its adaption, it still kept the essence of the book.
Enjoy! Love, Littlebro Gaymer

I listened to this book after I watched the movie just the other day and the book and the story line is so much better than the movie. It's so engaging and it really made me feel like I was Simon. I was able to feel really connected to the charters but I thought Leah would have had more of a bigger role than she did. It was still amazing. I recommend this to anyone wanting a love story.

A bit of a let down
While I wasn't expecting anything amazing, I found this didn't really live up to the hype. I read this after watching the movie. While I think the movie made everything a little over dramatic, some elements of the book just annoyed me. The swearing seemed like it was the just for the shock value, it was little was jarring at times and the were just a little too many pop culture references.
While it not a bad read, the narration is great, it definitely wasn't this amazing literary peice that it was made out to be.

Fun Sappy Fluff
Having had a huge break in reading - particularly in the YA genre - this was a great book to ease back into a regular reading groove. It was light and goofy and fun with an enjoyable feel good ending.
There was maybe a wee bit too much sap towards the end, but not too much that I didn’t enjoy it.

Raw, real and emotional
It’s amazing how reading (or in this case listening)about someone’s struggle to share their identity really makes you reflect on your own.
Becky Albertalli captures the struggle to be vulnerable and share oneself with others perfectly.
Look forward to reading Book 2 next month
