Gerhart Hauptmann (1862-1946) hat die Erzählung "Siri" in den Jahren 1938/1939 geschrieben. Hierbei handelt es sich um Tagebucheintragungen eines Humanisten, der an der Universität arbeitet. Immer wieder berichtet er über die schöne Schauspielerin "Siri", in die er sich verliebt hat. Da er aber gebunden ist und Kinder hat, darf er diese Liebe nicht leben.
