Narrator sucks
Love the books and the story but really can’t recommend this narration… Feels like a computer voice - really unpleasant to listen to.

Don't bother!
What would have made Skin Privilege better?
To have listened to the complete story. The abridged version was a complete waste of time. (I downloaded this version in error!)
Has Skin Privilege put you off other books in this genre?
Only abridged books
How could the performance have been better?
As abive

Good story as usual but reader not good and some left out
Not as enjoyable as other performances. The story was good but narrated badly especially the male impersonations. Also the words clipped out a few times

Awful abridged version- avoid
This is the worst abridged audio cd I've ever listened to. It has random harmonica music playing over parts of the story, chunks repeated, stuttering disjointed sentences. I cannot believe this has passed any publishing standard. Whoever edited this was totally incompetent. It's impossible to follow the story line; it jumps from one conversation/setting to something different. I shall be returning it. I hadn't realised it was an abridged version until I started listening and it became obvious parts were cut out mid sentence- very poor quality.

shame about the poor recording
The book is good. Shame about the poor sound levels, skips in the recording and odd sound effects that broke me out of the narrative

Random music
Great story, great reading.
1 star review due to random accordion playing throughout the recording. At the worst moments. Including the ending.

Not quite sure what happened here.....
I love the Grant County series of books by Karin Slaughter, it's a good job really because if I didn't I'd have turned this performance off very quickly. The reader was good, she read clearly but large sections of the book were missed out, full pages just skipped, which made the story sound disjointed and awkward. There are also bizarre pieces of music played randomly over the words, they do t add anything to the story so I can't think why anyone decided it would be a good idea. what a shame, for the reader and the writer!

Music unacceptable
As always Karin Slaughter doesn't disappoint but this audible version with music at the beginning and end of each chapter is awful. Much preferred the earlier versions of the Grant County Series.

very poor quality - excellent story
The story is as outstanding as ever but the quality of the recording (which skips multiple times) and the random, out of place, vocal drowning music with irritating harmonica when you are trying to listen to the story line, all serve to make this a dreadful listen. The narrator is the worst of all the Karin Slaughter books I have heard this far also. I would not recommend this purchase, hopefully an alternate version will be forthcoming to prevent Grant County fans having to listen to this mess of a recording.

Bad quality recording
The story is soo hard to follow because of the recording quality, as noted on other reviews, i should have read them before i got this, but it was the next in the series and i didnt want to miss snything. I could have skipped it without losing the flow of the whole saga, there was an annoying aspect to the performance also, there sre better narrators on Karin Slaughters other sudio books.

jumpy and hard to follow. not a good example
not sure if the book or the recording but it was very jumpy not a good example of a Karin Slaughter book. I think the audio was fast forward or glitching regularly.

Great Story - terrible narrating and audio
The story had such promise however this is a Bridged version not unabridged. The narration was terrible, the accents were terrible. The audio quality very poor and there was music playing at the most important parts of the book!!
So disappointing as is the last book in this series and had crucial things happen that lead on to the next series.

Great story, but find another recording
The story is great, Karin Slaughter is my favorite author, but the performance is this is off. Not only does music play at spots that makes no sense in the flow of the narration, but the narration glitches at least 5 times through the book. It will skip a few seconds, not long enough to lose what’s going on, but glitchy enough to be obvious that is skipped through a full sentence.
Don’t spend your money/credit on this recording.

It was ok, but these things were a little off putting.

GREAT writing but the audio voice is horrid
love karin slaughter books but this has got to be the worst reading of one, the tacky music that over shadows the reading, the repeating of lines really made it a chore to listen to it
