When Patrick invites his old high school friends to stay at the remote Portnoy cabin for the weekend, they couldn’t be more excited.

SLASHER SUMMER is a masterful tribute to the genre—weaving together hilarity and vicious murders before twisting the lovable formula on its head. Chen’s respect and love for the familiar tropes go much deeper than blood and gore. You could not ask for a better time. This is truly a slasher story after my own heart.
E.L. Chen had me in my nostalgia feels with her latest, Slasher Summer. The characters lift off the page, each one somehow worth rooting for and against, as they navigate the picturesque setting for a classically gory slasher. The paranoia is high, the gore is abundant, and the twists are neck-breaking. It's everything a Scream fan could dream of, and also makes me think of the mystery gang in Scooby Doo, but with much higher stakes, deeper connections, and instead of a talking dog, you have....well, Freddy.
