In Tamil: Mohini Theevu is a short historical fiction with elements of fantasy and romance. It is essentially a love story of a Chozha prince and a Pandiya princess, who are children of arch-enemy kings. The story might not be anything new for listeners of historical fiction and tales of kings, but since it’s Kalki who is the author, he makes it unique with his beautiful language and characterisations.

In Tamil: Kalvanin Kadhali is the story of a dacoit and his beloved, Muththaiyan and Kalyani. At the PoonkuLam village, Kalyani falls for good-hearted Muththaiyan. Circumstances brand Muththaiyan a dacoit, but Kalyani remains steadfast in her love. Evading the police, Muthaiyan leads the life of an exile in the forest. When things come to a head, Muththaiyan and Kalyani decide to run away to some far-off place and settle down to marital bliss.

ராஜாஜி பக்தர் கல்கி என்பது பலருக்கும் தெரியும். ஆனால் ராஜாஜியுடன் சரிநிகர் சமானமாகப் பேசி வாதம் புரியும் உரிமை பெற்ற மிகச் சிலருள் கல்கி ஒருவர் என்பது பெரும்பாலோருக்குத் தெரியாது. 

‘நான்’ என்று சொல்வது போலத் தமிழில் இதுவரை யாரும் சரித்திரக் கதை எழுதவில்லை என்பதால், அது மாதிரி ஒன்று நாமே எழுதினால் என்ன என்ற அசட்டுத் தைரியத்துடன் எண்ணத் தொடங்கினேன்.

இராஜராஜ சோழன் என்றதுமே, நம் மனக்கண்களின் முன், வானளாவ எழுந்து நிற்கும் பிரம்மாண்டமான தஞ்சைப் பெரிய கோயில்தான் காட்சி தரும். காலத்தை யாரும் இழுத்துப் பிடித்து நிறுத்திவிட முடியாது.

சரித்திர உண்மைகள் என்னும் கசப்பு மருந்தை, சர்க்கரை பாகு என்கிற எனது கற்பனையில் தோய்த்து, வாசகர்களுக்கு தந்துள்ளேன். சிலருக்கு கசப்பு மருந்து பிடிக்கலாம், சர்க்கரை பாகு திகட்டலாம்.

Thuppariyum Sambu is a detective short-story series in Tamil, written by Devan in the early 20th century. The novel's protagonist is Sambu, a not-very-intelligent bank clerk in middle age, who solves difficult crime puzzles out of serendipity but is quick to explain as well as take credit. Sambu's character is sometimes considered to be a comical version of Sherlock Holmes.

In the seventh century the Cholas are vassals of the Pallavas. Parthiban conveys his dream of the Chola dynasty regaining its glory - which he believes is lost since they are no longer the independent rulers - to his young son Vikraman. Parthiban refuses to pay tribute to the Pallavas, triggering a battle in which Parthiban is killed. Before he dies, on the battlefield, an enigmatic monk promises Parthiban that he will make sure that Vikraman fulfills Parthiban's dream. 

On a rainy day, a rich young man picks up a hapless college girl in his car, seduces her and drops her in her street. On realising her daughter's plight, the girl's mother pours a bucketful of water on her head, saying that she has been purified by this act as if she had taken the test by fire. The mother asks her daughter to forget the incident and get on with life. The story challenged the dominant cultural norms of woman's chastity, and many culturally acceptable closures were suggested.

திருவரங்கன் உலா என்பது மாலிக் கபூர் தலைமையிலான தில்லி சுல்தான் முகம்மது பின் துக்ளக்கின் படைகள் திருவரங்கத்தினை கொள்ளையடித்த வரலாற்று உண்மை சம்பவத்தினை அடிப்படையாக் கொண்டு ஸ்ரீவேணுகோபாலன் என்பவர் எழுதிய நாவலாகும்

 Mohini Theevu is a Tamil social novel written by Kalki in 1950. The story is a periodic fiction narrated by the protagonist, Bhaskara Kavirayar, who shares an unbelievable experience that happened to his friend while returning to India from Burma in a ship during World War II. The ship sails away from India to escape from a Japanese cruiser and reaches a mysterious and beautiful island located away from the southeast of Sri Lanka. The island is called "Mohini Theevu", which means "Fairy Island". What did he see? Whom did he meet?
