Thoroughly enjoyed this story which was fast paced. Was listening to it while working in house and found myself sitting down to listen to the story rather than switch it off in order to vacuum. Narration good and to me it was Baldacci at his best.

What an annoying narrator
I'm only a few chapters in but the narrator's voice and style are driving me crazy. I would listen to another book by Baldacci but not if read by Scott brick. He has an annoying voice and most of the time I can't tell if it's the man or women talking. They both sound the same.

great story less than great performance
the story itsslef was really good however the narrator's performance left a lot to be desired.
he sounded bored and had no get and and go for the book. as well as that the editing left choppy areas and a lack of audio every now and then.

Far-fetched plot, shallow characterisation
Not for me. Clichéd and lazy writing, no depth to characters, turgid dialogue. And "lightyear" is a measurement of distance, not time, David Baldacci and your lazy editor!

Convoluted
I am a Baldacci fan so am maybe not the best critic. I loved this book which is the first in the Maxwell series and puts into context how they came to work together. The plot is extremely convoluted but comes together well at the end, always a bonus!

ENTERTAINING - OK hardly great literature though
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it's good stuff, with a suitably twisted and far-fetched plot and plenty of twists and turns along the way.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Split Second?
The carefully built-up recreation of the Split Second that started it all.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
He's a great narrator - he brings the ability to paint the picture in the mind that you normally only get when you read the book yourself.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Well, you certainly could - it's not particularly challenging and won't win any literary prizes but it's a good, entertaining listen.
Any additional comments?
Good one, this - well worth a credit!

Great story line, usual Baldacci excellence and well performed. Four separate locations in the recording were very glitchy, repeated lines and up to 30seconds at a time missing. Reminiscent of a sticky CD. A little disappointed but enjoyed the book all the same.

It’s ok but not great
I read his later series Amos decker and John puller first and thought these were excellent and on the list for a reread in a couple of years. This is obviously and earlier work and while the dynamics of king and maxwell were really well crafted I just found the twists at the end a little less than the build up. Also what happened to book 2 in the series ... what’s the point of having a series of you are missing book? I’m trying the camel club now and giving this series a miss ... shame

There is heaps of skipping in this audio book which makes for annoying listening. I’ve noticed this with quite a few David Baldacci books, not sure why?
