Publisher's Summary

Eli Sabatino, determined to make a name for himself amid Seaside, New Jersey's nightlife, has laid out the perfect plan for success. But that plan didn't include Layla, the hopeful bartender who walked in for an interview. He knows that as an employee this alluring blonde is off-limits, but he can't fight the undeniable force of attraction that pulls him toward her.

Layla Del Luca has the weight of the world on her shoulders. With a full course load, a boyfriend, a sister to take care of, and an alcoholic mother, she needs to regain control of her life. Her job at Fierce is priority number one. But a complication she didn't expect looms behind the eyes of Eli, her handsome new boss.

Emotions collide full force, and they can no longer turn a blind eye to what their hearts are telling them. But can their passion survive when Eli can no longer promise the one thing Layla asks of him? Will everything change?

Warning: no HEA

Why sell a tragedy under the guise of a romance? I feel awful for the characters. I just feel awful.

Amazing!!!!!

Amazing amazing amazing!!!! Loved this book! This book has you falling in love with both Eli and Layla right away. It will have you laughing and crying and make you feel every emotion the characters themselves are feeling.
Also great narration, you can hear the emotion in both narrators. You're still about to lose yourself in the story while you listen.

Disappointing don’t read if you are expecting a happily every after.

I was very disappointed. I enjoy reading as an escape from the real world. When you read a romance you expect a happy ending. That is why I read them, For the HEA. No one expects to have it end the way it did. Very disappointed

Worst book ever no romance in death, so don’t read it if you want a happy ending because there isn’t one.

Why why why?????

Why do this to people? This was just a major kick in the stomach. I read prior book to know what happened... I wish this book was about how two people decided to take a chance on love... Happy... The end. Not to have this happen...
TWICE. I have endure this tragedy from Cooper and Jaylinn's story... And now this. I was hoping it was not gonna end that way.

Read if you want to be depressed

Worst ending ever. No conclusion or justice met, just a feeling of complete and overwhelming sadness.

She Dies- Not a romance 👎🏼👎🏼

I’m normally not critical of books I listen too, especially in the contemporary romance genre! But books like this piss me off. You are sold on “romance”, then they have a crappy ending where the main character dies. WTAF?!? Call it drama then, not romance. This is 6.5 hours of my life that I can’t get back. Majorly disappointed!!!!

A compelling story that gripes your heart

Would you consider the audio edition of Stay for Me to be better than the print version?

The print version of this story just wraps your heart and soul up and capture your attention. I found the audible equally as gripping with the storyline, however found the man narrator to be a bit distracting. His voice was just all wrong for Eli Sabatino. It was too dark, menacing of a voice for this already deeply dark and emotional read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Eli. I've loved his story from the the moment we met him in Let Me Love You. I want him to have his happily ever after. I want to know more about this man who loves unconditionally and opens his heart to a family, not just a girl.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Both voices were crisp, clear, and easy to understand. The girl narrator was much less distracting than the man, only because her voice did not have a harsh edge to it. Both narrators did change their tones when speaking as a woman and a male, which is common in audibles, but I found them a bit distracting and not necessarily needed. I would not have picked the man narrator for Stay For Me. This story already hints at a dark emotional storyline at the very beginning and from that moment on I felt like I was in a private investigator movie from the early 40's.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book gobbles my heart and soul up every single time I read it. Eli and Laila's story is breathtakingly beautiful. It is to date, no doubt in my eyes, Megan Smith's best book. In Stay for Me, she connects you so deeply to these characters that you feel their love, devotion and loss. This book ranks up there in my top books to have ever read or listened to.

Any additional comments?

For some reason my audible did not contain the entire story. The last 1 maybe 2 chapters was missing. It ended as Cooper was with the paramedics not allowing me to hear that Laila does indeed die. I know this because I've read the printed version several times. Should I have been new to this book and it cut off, I would have been very upset and felt jipped.

I can't believe the devastating ending.

OMG! This story leaves me subbing like a baby. After all the difficultly Layla lived through and overcome, I was happy that she finally had some well deserved happiness, then comes devastating ending and I just want to scream. Let's face it, reading for me is an escape to a world where everything works out in the end, so no matter how dark are painful the story is, I need a happy HEA. I am utterly shocked and disappointed with the ending. Even though the story is good overall, I can only give 3 stars because I absolutely hate a sad ending.

It will break your heart…. Save yourself!

I was enjoying this book until the author decided to destroy it…. And I assure you that’s what she did.

There is no HEA or even an ending thats worth the heartache. No one and I mean no one wants to finish a book crying angry sad tears.

All I can say is that I wish this book came with a warning because I wouldn’t have read it if I’d known!
