Publisher's Summary
Set against the gripping backdrop of K-9 search-and-rescue missions, Sara Driscoll’s mystery series is “wonderfully readable” (Publishers Weekly). A treat for dog lovers who like their heroines smart and their stories with a harder edge.
A training session in the Minnesota wilderness becomes a fight for survival for FBI handler Meg Jennings and her K-9 partner...
Keeping their search-and-rescue skills honed isn’t just a job requirement for FBI Special Agent Meg Jennings and her Labrador, Hawk—it’s essential to saving lives. A water search training weekend in the Boundary Waters area of Minnesota has attracted participants from all levels of law enforcement, each vying to win. The races are challenging, the rivalry is intense, and Meg is already under pressure when Hawk alerts to a scent in the water—and discovers the fresh body of one of Meg’s fellow competitors.
The contest is called off, but Meg’s still feeling the heat. The victim had made an unfounded complaint about her, one that could cost Meg her job and see Hawk removed from her care. The field of suspects is daunting, and all of them are experts in throwing others off the trail. And though Meg’s team flies out to Minnesota to help uncover the truth, they’re on unfamiliar territory, pitted against a killer with the skills, and the motivation, to stay hidden in plain sight...

Excellent addition to this series!!!!
In the 7th book of the FBI Canine series the protagonist (Meg Jennings) becomes the lead suspect in a murder. She’s at a training camp for search and rescue dogs with her dog Hawk. While out on a training challenge she discovers the body of a woman she had an altercation with the night before. The woman had been abusing her dog and Meg had planned to report her. It seems the woman had beat her to it and had reported Meg first. Meg would have never abused Hawk but no one there knows Meg. Nc Meg is the one who was reported and the one who discovered the body under water she moves to the front of the line.
The story is great. It’s very suspenseful and ver believable. This is fast paced and you don’t find out who the actual murderer is until almost the very end. I could have never figured this one out even if the book went on for longer.
Susan Bennett does a superb job narrating.
This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

I like this series, but…
This was not my favorite of the series, but I do like these characters and their story. I really really wish Angela Dawe was still reading them, though.

Unbelievable to the extreme
This series has always been entertaining enough to make up for the plot line that stretches believability. Not this one. Goes way over the line for me. Sorry Hawk, I am done.

Action Packed Adventure for Meg and Hawk
Moving from training camp to murders keeps the reader/listener spellbound in trying to determine what happened during a weekend. Very exciting story for the team.

The story quality continues.
I have read all make it and hawks series. I have enjoyed all of them. The quality of each one is good. Driscoll builds her characters around the mysteries very well, and I care about all of them and the mysteries around them all always new and complicated. I am looking forward to the next one in the series.
