The personal experiences and elaborations of this work really open your mind to a world much more. After going through the authors first book TEACHINGS I had been lead to this work. I absolutely recommend going through the first before this in order to get the frame of reference and connotation this work is built upon. A must have experience for all seekers!

peeking into the great mystery....
Great book. Much of it resonates with my own experiences and as such I can say that it contains a great deal of truth with a glance into the some of the secrets of the great mystery.

Having read this when it first became available
In 1998, I recall it being a tedious read, as were most of Carlos Castaneda. The subject matter has be scrutinized thoroughly by skeptics since his first book. I take no issue with this at all. I’m happy to say I’ve read all of his work, now decades ago. To hear this now with the impeccable narrating done by Louis Moreno had opened this story up once more. Honestly I won’t be able to listen to anyone else narrating Carlos Castaneda’s books .

inconsistent with the other book
I started this book straight after "journey to Ixtlan" and it seems much of the terminology has changed and some of the events don't line up too. Maybe I'm reading it too literally, but there is a noticeable difference in tone.
Still, there are some interesting concepts raised and a few good stories. The ending does take a nosedive into the absurd though.
