Story
Cruel. Coldblooded. Hades in a Brioni suit. Cillian Fitzpatrick has been dubbed every wicked thing on planet earth. To the media, he is The Villain. To me, he is the man who (reluctantly) saved my life. Now I need him to do me another small solid. Bail me out of the mess my husband got me into. What’s a hundred grand to one of the wealthiest men in America, anyway? Only Cillian doesn’t hand out free favors. The price for the money, it turns out, is my freedom.

Story
Let me list the reasons why dating the sexy, charming pro hockey star is a bad idea: He’s one of my closest friends. All our friends are friends. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his. We’re both devoutly single - it’s just safer for the heart that way. But there’s no reason not to bid on the gorgeous, clever athlete at the charity auction this weekend. If I win, it’ll be a "friendsdate".

Lexington Dane was my brother’s best friend growing up. We did everything together. He taught me how to throw a punch, how to change a tire...and he taught me how to kiss. I fell hard and fast, and gave him all my firsts. I promised I’d wait for him.... But I’m done waiting, because he went off to college and never came back. He took his fancy business degree and moved to New York City, where he promptly became a real estate mogul - turning every penthouse and apartment project he touched into gold.

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn't have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she's nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won't include the king of one-night stands.

I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

I ran. Escaped the man who wanted to hurt me. I got in my car and drove. No destination. No direction. No help. I hid in the one place I would never be found. Now in New York with no job, I didn’t know what to do. Then I met him. Jaxson Price. The enigmatic devil who wasn't only above the law, but played it like a puppet. He might be the answer to all my problems. Too bad he's asking for something in return for his help.... My heart.
Publisher's Summary
Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.
And that his best friend has a crush on me.
And that I just moved in with them.
Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?
I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?
He knows where to find me.

Predictable and shallow
The book was interesting enough to finish listening to it, but it was so predictable that I already knew what would happen. The story is mainly about two immature people who list after each other, finally have sex and tell each other, I love you. The characters had little depth. So, overall, a waste of my credit

couldn't finish...
I had to stop listening to this book. Maybe its more geared for a younger reader. I found Summer to be immature and the total college scene to be so childish and boring. Nothing happening in this book held my interest in any way. Jacob Morgan does good on his narration but CJ's voice added to Summer's spoiled and immature behavior. enough was just enough...

The Chase
Summer and Fitzy
I loved this couple, they really are completely different from each other yet really do complement each other.
I am a sucker for a college romance.
I liked that he was running scared because of his past it showed he was vulnerable but he also grew. The honesty might have taken time but once they both opened up it was refreshing.
Summer and all she has to go through it really is no wonder she doubts herself so much because when she does seek help she gets rebuffed. She is a pretty strong character.
I enjoyed the narration; these are two of my favorites so I have nothing but admiration for them.

Narrators? Seriously??
The narrator reading for Fitz is awesome. I’ve listened to his other books and absolutely LOVE HIM.... I would actually prefer for him to read for ALL of the characters.... he does a great job even when reading for the females. Perfect. Couldn’t ask for anything better.
HOWEVER.... who picked the narrators for Summer and Brenna?!?! They sound like 40 year old country club, yacht moms..... neither of them fit the part and it almost ruins the book. These details matter. Something as simple as this can make or break a read.

The book itself I loved. The voive actors were refreshing but.... I can't do the no character switch between chapters. The female voice trying to deepen to the male character and vice versa it just doesn't work. That being said I was actually able to finish this book, there are others that I couldn't.

Fun rom com at its best
I have been waiting for The Chase to come to audio for months and started listening the moment it was released. I love catching up with the Briar Ice Hockey team especially Fitz and Summer who we met in the previous book. CJ Bloom did a phenomenal job bringing out her whimsical nature and her insecurities brought on by her learning disabilities. Jacob Morgan really brought Fitz to life in his stoicism and how he fought their attraction. Can’t wait to return to Briar for Brenna’s book.

So happy to go back to Briar!
I'm a little disappointed with how long it's taken me to pick up this book saying how much I loved Elle Kennedy's Off Campus series. I can easily say that The Deal, The Mistake, The Goal and The Score are my favourite series. They have everything for a romance lover, college romance, sexy athletes and sassy heroines.
Now that I've read the Chase I've recaught the bug...Our main characters, Fitzy and Summer are just as amusing as our OGs of Briar University. Summer is sister of previous hockey team star Dean Heywood De Laurentis and has been thrown out of her previous college after an arson accusation. Fitzy and his two room mates offer her a place to stay as a favour to her brother, despite ongoing attraction between the two.
Fitzy has turned into one of my favourite book boyfriends. He's nerdy, brooding and sexy as hell. Summer was a really deep character, trying to break the stereotype of 'spoiled little rich girl' and become her own woman. I really enjoyed reading this development and really clicked with her as she tried to battle her own demons and find herself. It was great to see the return of characters like Garrett, Dean, Morris and more from the other books as well as some new characters I can't wait to hear more about.
The narrator of the story was fabulous. She had a lovely voice and differentiated every character with great ease.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series, The Risk.

I think this would be a better book to read, great storyline but I couldn't relax and enjoy it - I really didn't like the narration. The narration is alot of squaking and shouting and the characters come across as bratty , but only because of how it's narrated

Great narrators for a great story
Summer and Colin.
Colin and Summer.
I dunno you guys...I kinda shipped her and Hunter. Sigh. I mean did I hate Colin? NO. He's a tatted up nerd who plays hockey...Summer said it herself, he's a unicorn. But...I feel bad for Hunter.
This book not only had a hecking cute love story (minus that part where they kinda lead each other on there for a beat) but it covers some pretty solid topics; emotional abuse from parents, ADHD and handsy professors being the main topics. Also slut shaming is covered too.
The cameo's of the Off Campus guys made my heart happy

Very unappealing heroine
Elle Kennedy is usually a solid author but unfortunately this book is a dud. Summer is very unappealing- entitled, whiny, flighty and so hard to relate to. There are some very cliche plot elements, a towel drop scene, really? Fitzy I just couldn’t care less about, and there is just way too much minor character setup and very little interaction between Summer and Fitzy in the first half of the book, not to mention no believable chemistry. Skip this one.

Suspense and Love and Hot Accents
I loved that Sommer is not your typical book worm or super studious girl- that was super relatable, a big breath of fresh air from all the other books that exist nowadays. Loved the depth of both characters, Their background and their reasoning. At first I didn’t like the accent of Sommer and the Kappas( idk how you spell that I’m from Australia) but I pushed through and in the end loved all the accents and the loud personalities of everyone. Only negative was I wish the book was longer!
Feel like I have a new favourite author-currently writing this as I listen to it for the second time. Brilliant.

AMAZING!
This was such a cute romance! The narration was awesome!! Jacob Morgan and CJ Bloom are some of my favourite narrators, and they definitely didn't disappoint in this audiobook. Elle Kennedy is also a favourite author of mine. I've read some other books of hers and loved them so much. She seems to be able to add the right amount of heartbreak, but also enough fun times where you feel fulfilled by the end of the book. This would have been just as good to read, but I definitely don't regret listening to this as an audiobook because it definitely added just that extra bit to the story that made it even more awesome. If you have read the blurb and think you will like it, then I definitely recommend this book as one to read. This is one that you can easily decide to read as a standalone or read on about other characters romances. Enjoy!

Jacob Morgan saves this
Firstly, lots of people will love this. People who like slightly unbelievable romances will. Maybe it is not fair for me to review this so harshly as romance is not a genre I often go for. I got this because I love Jacob Morgan’s narration and he does a great job. The other narrator is constantly at level 11 with every sentence gasping and overly dramatic. The story itself is a standard odd couple thrust together, fall for one another etc etc. It’s a decent story within those bounds. This was the daily deal or I’d be returning it.

Captivating
In my opinion this book was epic! Granted the dialogue was a bit graffic for my taste but the character dynamics were on point. In those rear moments in-between listening i found myself feeling as though I was in love and had to reminds myself, these are fictional characters in a book. I loved this book and if I wasn't listening to it I was thinking about it
