Christmas is the best time to believe in magic ...
One winter evening, Lydia Marmalade arrives at Lady Partridge's mansion. She has nothing except her sausage dog, Colin, but she's not going to let that stop her making this her new home.
But Lady Partridge isn't at all keen to make Lydia part of the family. If Lydia doesn't behave herself until the end of the winter season, she'll cast her off entirely. And now her mother's gone, Lydia doesn't have anywhere else to live.
Helped (and often hindered) by a winter sprite, a snowstorm and a hungry Colin, Lydia makes a wish on the most magical night of the year ...
An unforgettable seasonal story for all the family, from the brilliantly funny Cariad Lloyd.

Critic Reviews
Jolly but emotionally perceptive...full of wit and larger-than-life characters
Christmas magic - a book only Cariad could write with such beauty and relatability!
Deliciously funny and full of Christmas magic - a perfect play on Austen for young readers
I loved this book! A gorgeous, warm festive yarn, funny and also so full of heart. Not to mention a dachshund called Colin. This feels like one of those books you'll want to read every Christmas.
'A funny, magical adventure...with lots of lively illustrations by cartoonist Ma Pe, this is a warm, sparklingly funny festive story, full of Christmas cheer and perfect reading for a winter's day'
This book is just so magical...full of heart, friendship, humour and magic...it's stuffed like a stocking with joy, laugh out loud moments, love and friendship and it will warm your heart like a hot chocolate on a freezing cold day. A true Christmas Sparkler
Fun and funny, but also powerfully emotive, seasonal romp. Everything you could wish for at Christmas!
